Homeland: Season 1 [Blu-ray]

This seems really expensive for a TV season on blu?
Is this marked up higher just because it won an Emmy?
This is a ridiculous practice and it needs to stop.
I blame the people that run the Emmy show, they are corrupt and the show needs to be shut down.
The Oscars are also a joke and are only a marketing scheme.

Lets get together and stop this before it gets out of hand.

I don't understand what you are whining about. All cable series are priced pretty much the same. Look at Dexter, True Blood, Game of Thrones, etc.

I bought this title for its debut week sale of $25. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Pretty simple.

It is not even that many episodes. Mad Men Season 5 is only 29.99

Also, it is more the fact that award shows like the Emmy's and Oscar's are nothing but marketing for the big studios. When will we learn...

Mad Men is also an Emmy winning series, so you are blowing up your original point with this statement. Most cable network series are only 10-13 episodes. Some are even less, like Magic City and Boss. I think the bigger price influence in the titles you mention are commercial cable series vs premium cable series.

Most of the first four seasons, if not all, of Mad Men have won Emmy's and then have been a $9.99 Black Friday deal here on Amazon the very same year. You are seeing conspiracies that just are not there.

Everyone I know knew about Homeland.

Do you know anything about Party of Five on blu?

The score so far:
C. Barbus: 3
Oskar: 0

I bought Homeland on the week of release for $24.99, Amazon matched Best Buy's price. Most cable shows are on sale during their release week. Mad Men S5 came out this week and is on sale, but just wait - next week the price will increase.

The Emmy win for "Homeland" has nothing to do with the price increase.

This is not a competition. I am just discussing.

What is your pricing theory on titles that have actresses named Emmy?

Interesting theory. But I would really like to know if Party of Five is coming to blu?

Didn't you ask that question in another thread? Why are you trying to change the subject here?

Oskar2525 says:
I am not really changing the subject, the show did win a Golden Globe for crying out loud.

Yeah, now that all the Emmy hype is over.

Right, this week's price has NOTHING to do with black friday week.

Oskar2525 says:
I don't think so, it is not listed under those deals.

Sounds like its wagering time. What are we betting that the price of Homeland goes back up next week?

Under your theory, the price should stay down regardless of Black Friday. If Amazon is matching prices of its competitors Black Friday prices, then the price will rebound to the regular pricing next week, not influenced at all by the Emmy Awards.

Game On.

Ok, I will take that bet. I say it stays the same price at least through the end of the year.

Homeland wins a few Golden Globes, what can we expect the price to do now?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 14, 2013 9:56:26 AM PST
It's gotta be over $100 now. It won Golden Globes for Peteys Sakes!

This Blu Ray has been available for quite some time. During Christmas season this set was as low as $20. It is just a matter of buying when the price is what you can afford, not necessarily the price being deemed too high today. Amazon has this great feature called "The Wish List". You can place products in there without purchasing them until the price is "deemed" low enough by you. Happy shopping!

This topic is not about what I think is a good price for Homeland. It is about greedy people in the business jacking the price up because it won some awards.

This topic is actually about a little boy's conspiracy theory.

And even if you are a little bit right, what is wrong with that? If you created a barbecue sauce that ended up winning awards at the state fair, wouldn't you slap an "Award Winning" sticker on it and jack up the price? It's the American way, sir, and you are blasting it.
