JG . your not correct re The Devils, not being available on DVD, it is I bought a copy ...and as much as I like Vanessa Redgrave and the late Oliver Reed .. I really don't see why the studio would put this movie on blu ray it's pure tripe ,possibly because of the film being hacked to pieces and the director not being a very good one to begin with ... I would be more than happy to sell you this movie if you want it . TML .

Out of all the titles available, if I have to pick only 1 movie that enjoy watching over and over again, it would be Tombstone. Yes, I really want Star Wars 1-6, LOTR Ext. Cut, IJones quadrilogy, Aliens Quadrilogy, BTTFuture trilogy, F&F quadrilogy and JPark trilogy. And for the kids, some Looney Toon and WB cartoon stuff (old school that I grew up on) and of course all the Pixar and Dreamworks and old Disney movies. I got $, bring 'em out!

Looks like Pulp Fiction due out August 4 2009 is more than likely getting delayed. Pre-order links should be up by now but, it seems like a delay is a near inevitability

Michael Laide,
Since Warner Bros has yet to release "The Devils" restored on DVD, apparently you've purchased a pirated copy. No wonder the film is "hacked to pieces". I have no interest in a re-edited, low resolution version of this film pulled from a tv broadcast and burned to disc. You can keep your pirated DVD, thanks.

If you've never seen a clean print of "The Devils" projected in a theater, you haven't seen "The Devils". Aside from being Ken Russell's masterpiece, (and Russell, while prone to excess, is a brilliant director), the photography is stunning and the often-surreal production design was, and is, groudbreaking.

Certainly, the film is not for everyone and efforts to censor it are still carried out today (this film has been banned in Italy for almost 40 years)... No doubt, elaborate orgies between nuns and clergy staged in cathedrals are shocking (although based on Aldous Huxley's historical account of the exorcisms in Loudun in 17th century France), but the film's portrayal of religious hypocrisy, corruption of the powerful, and bitter revenge is engaging.

And if the strong visuals and themes don't draw you in, the performances will. Oliver Reed, with cause, considered this film his finest work... And Redgrave as Sister Jeanne is a revelation. Because this film is such a tour-de-force, there has been a clamor for a restored, uncut release of this film on DVD for well over a decade. And while WB has repeatedly announced impending release of this film on DVD, to date, the voices of censorship have prevailed.

The Color Purple, Schindler's List, Leaving Las Vegas, The Exorcist (with both versions packaged) and Scarface. I'd also like to see "At Play in the Fields of the Lord" but since it was never released on DVD I won't hold my breath

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel'.

Why they'd release 'Firefly' and not Joss Whedon's other work, is a mystery.

Posted on Jun 16, 2009 12:43:57 PM PDT
William Reed says:
Probably because Joss actually does not own the rights to Buffy, and plus there is a new Buffy movie in the works. So depending on how that pans out they may release it around the same time as the movie.

This is only speculation and my opinion, based on the facts stated in the first sentence.

You'll be waiting until hell freezes over for that or any other title on HD DVD. Where have you been?
