Isn't it fascinating that they have brought out that 1950s Karajan film of Der Rosenkavalier onto a well reviewed BD? Along with Powell's The Tales of Hoffmann, I believe this is the oldest opera film to make it to Blu-ray. I am going to have to replace my ancient VHS copy of this great performance.

I have to give this thread a bump to get it above all that hd-dud nonsense.

Thanks, Rick.

I have noticed that this thread gets more "votes" when it is in the top 8 spots for threads.

RE: The HD-DVD Trolls - a simple 'ignore this customer' and their comments and threads magically disappear from your life. How wonderful.

Kyle, that could help "ME" out but I am more concerned with "others" being aware of this thread and the proposal that it pushes.

To be fair while the whole seperate Blu-ray reviews on Amazon seems a good idea,i feel it's the last place you should be looking when there are sites like Hidef digest and Blu-ray.com to name just a few, that have dedicated Blu-ray disc reviews.

Hi Anders,.. nice work. I do hope they separate the formats.

The next petition should be to delete all the threads that don't relate to blu-ray. Also,.. they need to ban those (sandwich) who start them. They are immature, confrontational and they insult everyone. I find the language they use highly offensive. I buy alot of movies from Amazon and I come to these forums to get information. It takes forever to sift through all the objectional posts. I hope Amazon realises that they could potentially lose customers by nof fixing this problem.

John, I somewhat agree. I just don't think it is the "last" place I or anyone else should look for information regarding blu-ray. Amazon is the first place anyone would look because it is the place that we buy the product from. It is true that there are a few site out there, that do give adequate content reviews and even sometimes there's customers that give their opinions too. I have found that there is actually far more information about any particular product here on Amazon then any other site. Usually that information isn't all that imperative to the purchase but it does help. For instance; packaging is often reviewed on Amazon and usually never on other sites. Another aspect that is quite unique to Amazon is the quantity of reviewers, it's always nice to hear the opinions of as many people as possible and Amazon provides that (its just unorganized).

Rick: I've gone off bluray.com since they gave the blu-ray of Close Encounters Of The Third Kind a good picture quality review.

PS: I also clicked "Yes".

Hopefully sometime soon we will get feedback from Amazon corporate, since I received an email on Friday saying that customer service pushed this up the chain.

I don't know if this has been addressed yet, but has anybody noticed that for video games, the 360 version, ps3 version, pc version, and every other version of the game has different reviews, when most of them are exactly the same? Games that are the same on both the PS3 and 360 platforms will have separate reviews, and because of it different scores. They can't separate blu ray from dvd though? that's stupid..

Anders Blom says:
EpsilonX, that is a very good point.

I hadn't realized that Amazon caters to Gamers and not to Movie fans.

I agree on this one they should really get there devs recoding the reviews section to better seperate the reviews that should be seperate from other reviews like DVD and Blu ... that way it would be a lot better organized and make a lot more sense or even have a drop-down selector with the options or link that says show only Blu reviews or only dvd reviews that would be great in my opin.

Just because people buy a lot of Blu-ray's from Amazon does not mean it's the best place for reviews, just like if you go and buy a Blu-ray player from Best buy, they may sell a lot but good luck on getting any decent advice !!!!!!
