Now that the Panasonic exclusive is over, when will Avatar be available for purchase? Renting Avatar 3D for $25 is prohibitive.

I read on these pages that the Panasonic rights were extended another year. I bought the Panasonic 210 for $129 here on Amazon and got my copy pretty fast. I really DID need a 3D player for my bedroom where my only 3D TV is. :)

The rights were extended last year for one more year, so it has expired. The announcement for the retail version should be made this year. It also most likely will come out this year. We just have to wait and see.

"Here's something else interesting for you Avatar fans: Our own Jeff Kleist just spotted this on Germany's store. The retailers is now taking pre-orders for an Avatar Blu-ray 3D combo set for release in Germany on 12/24. That means you can likely expect the U.S. release around the same time. "

Not trying to troll you, but technically, DVD was "Red-Ray."

Red-Ray is (was) a player backed by the RED company responsible for Red-One digital cameras. It was designed to play 4K, that's the resolution that their cameras shoot at, and they're used by many Hollywood movies. However, I doubt that this product will ever be widespread, and considering how blu-ray is evolving, and will most likely eventually play 4K, the Red player is probably as good as obsolete.

There are several posters around that bring this up, no doubt, to confuse people. My guess is that they were initially HD-DVD supporters, and now the enemy of an enemy is a friend, so to say. I can think of no other reason why a person would continually bring up dead products and pretend as if they were imminent.

Thought I would let you know it comes out October 16 this year

October 16 is a tuesday! Which would make more sense than C. Barbus's October 15, uh oh.

Sorry, I misread the article. Worldwide release is the 15th. The USA has to wait a day, so it can be a Tuesday.
