Freewheelers Cello Blues is unique, Ilene mcHolland plays cello while standing up, singing, tapdancing, a natural born entertainer. Her husband Bas Vossen can go all the way with his Warwick bass: (hard)rock('n'roll), slow blues, jump blues, city funk, country blues, swing, reggae, salsa, you name it. They are starting to compose their own songs, a fusion of all of the above, with a nice, melodic cello sauce.
www.thefreewheelers.nl is their website, which contains video links and booking information.

But why, Oh why has he only released an EP??? After such a "killer" moment on Crossroads - why no follow up??? So frustrating

But I agree he is great. Although such a pity being cast in the "The Honey Dripper", it could have been a real showcase for him

Playing the cello while standing up tap dancing and singing. Sounds more like a minstral show. How does hard rock, reggae and salsa translate to blues, new or otherwise?

Posted on Aug 6, 2012 2:48:29 AM PDT
We don't actually perform salsa right now, but, in Spain, our drummer is from S.America, and he does incorporate many rhythms over a standard 1-4-5 blues song
.....and I don't recall any hard rock songs in my set,at this moment. I also don't tap dance.....while playing the cello. And in case you don't know, according to Webster, the blues can be played on any instrument. The blues is about life. You shouldn't be so narrow.......
