L. K. Carson says:
A Small Town by Shelby Hearon is my favorite novel. Ever. Why hasn't she become a better known author? She gets excellent reviews but her wonderful views of people in contemporary situations just aren't widely known. I lent Ella In Bloom to a friend who called and said she was going to track down other books by this author.
A Small Town (1988 I believe) puts you right in the middle of a small town with all its amusing multi generational workings. But any amusement is not without its human insights. I know people in general better because of this book.
