I have a Canon XSI with 2 kit lens, a Tamron 28-75 XRDI and a Canon 70-200 F4L lens. I am looking to upgrade to either a 7D, a 5D MII or the new 6D. Would appreciate any help.

What are you looking for out of the upgrade? What type of photography? The 7D may be a bit better in some way for action photography while the 6D can give you higher image quality due to its larger sensor plus it has the latest tech from Canon. Your current lenses are a pretty good match for the 5D and 6D full-frame models though they won't give you as much telephoto reach on these cameras (but will give you much more at the wide-angle end).

I would primarily use it for soccer, basketball pics of grandkids plus some portaits

The 7D will do a great job for sports and you'll have more than enough money left over for an 85mm f/1.8 handy for portraits and basketball. The 7D is very fast with a very sophisticated focusing system which includes lots of custom settings (so there is a bit of a learning curve). Plus, with the 6D, you'd need a 300mm lens to get about the same telephoto reach as you have now or with the 7D (one advantage of the somewhat smaller APS-C sized sensor in the 7D and XSi).
