mrs exp says:
I just read this question in an email I got describing how we can make something in our life not worth living? the article indicated that that is the thing that we have made into an idol.

In the article a man's world was devestated because his parents were getting a divorce. He had built his conception of himself on their "perfect" life and it threw him for a loop to find that it wasn't so perfect.

PS Make that "What is the thing in your life that if it were taken away would make you feel life was not worth living?"

Rev Otter,
That is perfect. I didn't think of that. But you're right. I had one thought, but I'm embarrassed to say what it was, but after thinking it over it wouldn't have made life not worth living.

I guess you are assuming one thinks life is worth living now.

It's a thought exercise for the purpose of learning more about yourself. It isn't a statement of fact.

zato says:
The question includes the assumption that you believe life is worth living. If you do not believe this then there is no reason to engage in the thought exercise. Your time would be better spent on determining why you feel you have no purpose.

If God were to take away my faith in His Son Jesus Christ as my Savior, life would not be worth living.

Lao Tzu,
I would say I agree but you probably don't think I think clearly and effectively even now. But I do agree.

Astrocat says:
I don't think God gives us anything or takes anything away. At least not any separated God. So I would have to adjust the question and say, what one thing would diminish the quality of this life, and that would be the loss of my curiosity, and my thirst for knowledge.

Acts5v29 says:
Isn't this question something of a slur against God? The letter of James says that God cannot be tried with evil, nor does He try us with evil either - and removing some life-important aspect of us could be seen to be just that.

If the question were "what thing in our lives, if taken away, would...", it might be more relevant to believers.

Nancy, has not God directly told you the answer yet? Why do you say, "I Think"?. Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

What sort of love? There are many kinds of love; some are genuine, and some are quite bogus.

Matthew, because, as you know, I choose not to "believe". I could say I "know" instead of "I think", would that make any difference? To me they're the same thing.

Nancy, You don't believe in God you say, yet you preach on how one is to know God! Ironic! Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Christ

Astrocat says:
Matthew, now, now, I never said I didn't think/know there is a Divine Life, One Life, and that you would call that Energy "God". I'm not going to get into another argument over the meaning of the word "believe". I said that I know this Energy/Being exists, where did you get the sense that I was "preaching"?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 22, 2012 10:29:11 AM PST
Nancy, Actually, you have said that one knows God by direct communication with Him, and I agree, but also by means of His Divine Revelation through others as biblically affirmed. (Genesis 18:15, 2 Samuel 5:2, John2 1:17, Luke 10:16, Ephesians 3:10). Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Christ
