My bet is he won't be a European. Either America, Africa, or Latin America.

Now watch me be shown to be wrong in ten minutes

Mr. Jumps says:
Woo Hoo there is a new pope!. The worlds first and foremost christian religion has a new pope. The goal is to unite all christians into a single denomination. All schisms must be put back together in order to fight off the dung religions. Reformation is what allowed the dung to spread in the first place. Rest easy as a catholic you won't have to worship in a church converted from a McDonalds, or a strip mall any longer. Or listen to sermons from a deacon adorned in cheap robes, and having an ugly wife. Woo Hoo praise Jesus!

I was joking yesterday that what some feel will be the last Pope would be elected at 7:06 (Vatican Time), because there can't be 66 minutes in the 6th hour and BINGO I was spot on.
Should we be surprised? 66 books of 'man'=6
The idol they push is father and son as one-a mere emulation of the Baal worship: Jesus Baal=666 or Baal (lord) Jesus=666 in ASCll Characters used to secret numbers from names:
THe text was called ( using ASCll Characters) H=72+O=79+L=76+Y=89+B=66+I=73+B=66+L=76+E=69 = 666
THe holders of this Roman one world religion called:
Catholics=666
Vaticanas (vatican Unity)=666 AsVatican (the vatican)=666
Hebrew numerics: ROMIITH means the Roman Kingdom R = 200 resh O = 6 waw (vav) M = 40 mem I = 10 yod I = 10 yod TH = 400 taw
--------------
666
And the Hebrew ROMITI, or the Roman Man is-
R = 200 resh O = 6 waw (vav) M = 40 mem I = 10 yod T = 400 taw I = 10 yod
----------
666

The first Jesuit Pope? That's surprising too. I imagine he's the first Hispanic Pope too.

S. Kessler says:
With the spelling of his last name, he is obviously from a family of Italian immigrants to Argentina. Interesting that a Jesuit would have honored St. Francis, no?

This is just so awesome. =)

Born in Argentina, Italian immigrant parents. Looks like he lived his whole life in Argentina.

S. Kessler says:
It kind of made him a no-brainer for the job. Being from Argentina, he represents the global south where most of the Catholics are now. But having Italian immigrant parents means he still has some Italian roots, so he'll fit into the tradition of Italian popes.

I did think they'd go for a younger pontiff, though. At 76 he's no spring chicken, but he does look like a healthy guy for his age.

S. Kessler says:
Well, I just read the AP story about him. Seems like he kept largely quiet about the actions of the fascist dictatorship in Argentina in the 1970s that kidnapped and murdered a considerable number of political opponents. This was major news when I was in my 20s, what was going on in Argentina with mass murders. There were also a lot of stolen babies that were "given" to families highly placed in the ruling junta that he apparently was aware of but claimed not to be until much later after the horror was over.

He's also bumped heads big time with Argentina's current government who he considers much too liberal. Same old, same old, apparently.
