JJB, I think we will continue to see extremism of various forms
in America, but this election wasn't a triumph for the extremists.
That's the key thing.
The Religious Right did not get one of their "own" at the top of the ticket, for one thing,
and their support was not sufficient to put the compromise candidate in the
White House. Extremist Paul Ryan was of no discernible help, as far as I can see.
So I think the entire Republican party will reassess, and there will be a move
towards the middle.
The Religious Right was unable to deliver the election. The Tea Party was unable to
deliver the election.
Practical minds in the Republican Party have undoubtedly taken decisive note of that fact.
