People,

1 Corinthians 3:18

Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become "fools" so that you may become wise.

Part of Romans 12:16

Do not think of yourselves as wise.

Fingers,

--A wise man's heart inclines him to the right,
but a fool's heart to the left.--

I praise you for adding.

Psalm 25:

4 Show me your ways, LORD, teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

DocMMV,

--LOL
So true!--

I think right will was in that.

I thought to add.

Deuteronomy 30:

15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.
16 For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

I found this to be EXTREMELY convicting:

(Proverbs 26:3-12)
3 A whip for the horse,
A bridle for the donkey,
And a rod for the fool's back.
4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
Lest you also be like him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly,
Lest he be wise in his own eyes.
6 He who sends a message by the hand of a fool
Cuts off his own feet and drinks violence.
7 Like the legs of the lame that hang limp
Is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
8 Like one who binds a stone in a sling
Is he who gives honor to a fool.
9 Like a thorn that goes into the hand of a drunkard
Is a proverb in the mouth of fools.
10 The great God who formed everything
Gives the fool his hire and the transgressor his wages.
11 As a dog returns to his own vomit,
So a fool repeats his folly.
12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes?
There is MORE HOPE FOR A FOOL than for him.

I love the litany of problems with foolishness, but the arrow through the heart at the end regarding those of us who think we understand and know more than we do... devastating.

I think people may gain something from that contribution.

I thought to add.

Chapter IV.-Ignorance the Mother of Evils.

"From all these things, therefore, it is concluded that all evil springs from ignorance; and ignorance herself, the mother of all evils, is sprung from carelessness and sloth, and is nourished, and increased, and rooted in the senses of men by negligence; and if any one teach that she is to be put to flight, she is with difficulty and indignantly torn away, as from an ancient and hereditary abode. And therefore we must labour for a little, that we may search out the presumptions of ignorance, and cut them off by means of knowledge, especially in those who are preoccupied with some erroneous opinions, by means of which ignorance is the more firmly rooted in them, as under the appearance of a certain kind of knowledge; for nothing is worse than for one to believe that he knows what he is ignorant of, and to maintain that to be true which is false. This is as if a drunk man should think himself to be sober, and should act indeed in all respects as a drunk man, and yet think himself to be sober, and should wish to be called so by others. Thus, therefore, are those also who do not know what is true, yet hold some appearance of knowledge, and do many evil things as if they were good, and hasten destruction as if it were to salvation.

Max Flash,

--Deuteronomy 5:32-33

32 "Be careful to do as the Lord your God has commanded you; you are not to turn aside to the right or the left."

God loves moderates.--

I think that was done in right will.

I thought to add

Proverbs 3:

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

So, I guess I interpret this to mean: God wants ignorant followers. People who question this claim of total authority are fools and need not be listened to.

I like to call this "The religious inoculation against reason."

Thomas-
"Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become "fools" so that you may become wise."

I have a hard time buying this idea as anything but lazy thinking. More than that I think it is dangerous thinking because it inoculates otherwise honest and reasonable people to the fact that they might be wrong and those intelligent enough to argue as such are condemned as fools for their differing viewpoint.

Let's try this short thought experiment. Lets say I have on some very good authority that the sky is actually red and due to the failings of the human eye we just perceive it to be blue. This authority also wants me to let you know that many will disagree and say, "no, no, the sky is blue!" Only fools will be won by their arguments because although we can't see the truth, god has told us that many will try and deceive us into believing in the "blue sky myth."

This is a self perpetuating inoculation. It polices itself with claims of self evident truths that only a fool would try and argue with.

You may agree the words may be placed in front of people and they may agree with them or not.

Do you think some people are foolish and don't have control of their will and that you are not foolish and have control of your will ?

I try avoid foolishness by refusing to accept wild and crazy claims that are offered with zero evidence.

Predictably, the huckster trying to get me to buy what he's selling replies that I'm being foolish. But why should I believe a liar?

Bel and the dragon.

Chapter 14 of the Greek version of Daniel.

6 The king said to him, `Do you not think that Bel is a living god? Do you not see how much he eats and drinks every day?' 7 And Daniel laughed, and said, `Do not be deceived, O king, for this thing is only clay inside and bronze outside, and it never ate or drank anything.'
