Ponger says:
Dozens of studies of praying that are statistically valid show prayer does nothing beyound a placebo effect. Yet that being said, placebo effects can be very strong and comforting.

Why would you ask this question? If you are praying, then you believe in God. If you believe in God, then why would you think he wasn't listening to you?

Simple..if you have kids you listen to them don't you? God loves us. He created us to have relationship with Him..

I believe God listens because my prayers have been answered, but even when they aren't I believe He hears.

Well, I can only answer with this. When I do pray, most of the time it stays the same, like he is on vacation. But when I yell at him, for not helping me, something good happens I dont expect.Example, I had a blood clot in my lung, next day went to the doctor, and it was gone. The doctor seemed pretty baffled, like he did not know, what to say to me.Just responded with, your a lucky individual, somones looking out for you.

God is always listening even when we are not praying. Just because He does not answer the way we think He should does not mean He does not hear. Sometimes we need to quiet ourselves and just wait, He will speak. I get my Bible out I turn on some soft music, I get a pen and paper, God speaks in many ways. He is God and can't be put in a box. Just be willing and open He loves you, you are His amazing child why wouldn't He want to speak to you.

Pathfinder says:
O.... If you believe that God is NOT listening to your prayers than you are probably doing something wrong. Get on your hands and knees and talk to him....he is your heavenly father. Start with... Our Father...or My Heavenly Father...... and Thank him for the things he has provided..... Ask him to help you with the problems you have...... Finish with....in the name of Jesus Christ...Amen. DO NOT GET UP......stay on your knees and give him time to respond.....keep your mind open and listen. Stay on your knees for several minutes and keep the communication lines open. If you do this....You will soon realize that God hears your prayers.

Who said you were doing something wrong? There is no wrong way or right way to talk to God. He is your friend you can talk to Him any way you want, who said you had to be on your knees? I lay down, or sit or stand or pace or clean.. or shop, or cook or I am on the computer asking Him what to type, If you wanna be on your knees go right ahead. That won't make Him listen any more or any less. You are amazing and very talented, but you know that right?

Vicki says:
Dear ®_0,

I know that God is listening to my prayers because of the responses I receive from Him.

There are the normal responses to my prayers of thanksgiving and praise, felt in my spirit. There is the understanding about aspects of Himself and messages He gives to me as I read the Bible.

He listens deeply- heart deep, sometimes responding to my unspoken desires and also the hopes that I had forgetten about having until I realize that He has fulfilled them.

can you imagine the cacophony from several billion people praying to him, while maintaining the running of all reality?

i know if it were me i would tell everyone to just shut up and give me a moment of peace.

I wonder what priority system this god is using.

On the one hand he answers the prayers of individuals who make that claim.

However, on the other hand this god does not lift a finger to save any of the dozens and dozens of innocent children every year from being kidnapped, brutally raped, tortured and then killed. This god does not even lift a finger to even let law enforcement know the identity of this criminal. The police need to investigate and forensic scientists need to track down the killer. Hopefully before he/she does the same act again. In the meantime, the family suffers the sadness of losing their little girl or boy.

So this god answers Christian prayers when one prays to this god.

It is too bad god does not answer the prayers for the children who are stricken with horrible diseases who are in hospitals who die and are not allowed to have a life. It is also unfortunate that the Christian god does not answer the prayers for those who can not walk due to loss of their legs or perhaps the loss of their arms as well.

However, the Christian god answers the prayers of Christians.

The 250,000+ people (including drowned infants who were found in the arms of their drowned mothers) in Asia who were drowned in the tsunami a few years ago. Then there was the 250,000+ people who died in Haiti a couple of years ago. No prayer answering happening here.

I'm sure quite a few people who were trapped in the Twin Towers on September 11th 2001 were saying prayers, but died anyway. Leaving children to grow up without a father or mother or both.

According to Betty Bowers, he gets prayer requests wrong too; she had specifically requested a RED Prada bag, she received a GREEN Prada bag.

GOD does not answer nor does he listen to prayers especially if people are praying against the behaviour and actions of others that they feel are immoral.GOD is not a genie you cannot pray to GOD for him to change little johnny so he'll stop acting gay or for someone to stop doing drugs, watching porn, get saved, reject there non-christian beliefs islam, judaism, mormon etc...You cannot pray to GOD to fix the economy, protect your home from a natural disaster elect a faith based president or congressman or any other nonsense.

In my opinion FEAR...Fear of the unknown. Sometimes we fear that which we don't know. What would happen if the preacher waited on God? What if he waited for God to show up and nothing happened? It is the same when you go to pray for someone. what if we pray and nothing happens? Well nothing happens many times because we are in such a hurry, when really we need to wait to hear what the Spirit is saying. Why Are we on such a time limit? God has all the time in the world... I say this based on my own experience...we are afraid or in a hurry to do what??? To wait..God is teaching me just that. To walk by faith...not knowing what will happen but waiting on Him..After all, the results of our prayers are up to Him not us...what if...I make a mistake? That's okay, we all make mistakes it is better to step out and use your talents and risk being wrong than to bury them and not use them at all because of fear.

Yes, you are right He is our creator who also tells us when we pray to say our Father who art in heaven. Yes my friend He is all. All we need. He is a Father to the fatherless. He is many things to many people...He also calls us friends...or have you not read the scriptures? Maybe he has not revealed it to you yet.. It is scriptural..He created us to fellowship with Him. I am quite sure our amazing God is never lonely or bored Yet as Jesus said He was at all points tempted as are we so I am sure when Jesus hung on the cross and God looked away because Jesus took sin upon Himself, that when God looked away and Jesus spoke My God My God why has thou forsaken Me? I think He felt loneliness. I think we were created to worship Him to love and Fellowship with Him. You are amazing and I hope you know the depth of His love for it is very deep..you are really amazing and so very talented. I am compelled to ask if you play the guitar? I am stepping out on this but the thought just came to ask you that.

God gives us free choice He is not going to force anyone to do anything. That is not how it works. Yes you can pray to Him about anything and yes He does answer prayers not always the way we expect Him to..Yes I have seen with my eyes people healed. I use to do drugs and I have done some pretty horrible things and I thank My God for giving me a praying parent..iF IT WERE NOT FOR HER, i WOULD NOT BE WHERE I AM..I can not force God on anyone nor will I. It is a choice my mom tried to do that to me the more she tried the worse I got. One day out of no where I heard a voice in my head that said "read the bible". I was not saved I was living with my boyfriend and doing drugs and could have cared less. I thought where the (((( am I going to get a bible I don't have a Bible. Then He said there is one in the back of the truck. And guess what there was a small gideon Bible in the truck..How in the world did it get there? we partied every weekend my boyfriend cut trees down how in the world would that bible get in there? I honestly tried to read it only to end up frustrated because I could not understand a word of it....This is just my experience. Later I ended up getting saved, and filled with His Spirit....you really are amazing..

I am sorry but in that you are wrong. I have had many prayers answered I have even seen some with my own eyes..My dad is an alcoholic and an unbeliever He was into all sorts of wierd stuff...astro projection, drugs, witchcraft, etc...and when He saw what God did in my life and how God changed me it made such an impact on Him. He started watching a Christian man on t.v. and is now reading the Bible..and God is slowly working in His life. He deals with us each differently..what I have experienced may be different than what you have experienced..but I say this, when you experience Him and His presence, it is like no other...you will be forever changed. He genuinely loves you. You are very talented and very special and you have many giftings that He has uniquely given you....why not use all of that raw talent?

j.cobos says:
God always answers prayers, sometimes with a no, but it's still an answer. Sometimes with yes, and sometimes with a wait. When its a no, we often think he's ignoring us, but thats not the case. He knows when to say yes, when to make us wait, and when to say no. Whatever His answer is, it's the best one for us.

Bubba says:
sometimes no, yes, and sometimes with a wait -- sounds like a Magic 8 Ball, which is all total random -- which is exactly the same as if there is no god.

j.cobos says:
Bubba, why would God answer a prayer if He knew it would bring us harm? He wants what's best for us. Just like our parents with us, and us with our children. No magic involved, just a perfect love and the want for us to prosper. Not random at all either, always on time actually.

Bubba says:
As there are no gods, the whole question is moot.
