Jay Runner says:
Solomon did not give Bathsheba the title of queen mother either; the OT does, however.

He saved Mary the same way He saves the rest of us.

Reminds me of Pastor Jim, who loved to point out that not once did Jesus ever address Mary as "Mother."

He was under the impression that it disproved some Catholic doctrine, LOL...

Although the Immaculate Conception was paid for by Christ's death on the cross, the similarity ends there.

OK, but neither the OT, nor the NT call Mary "queen of Heaven."

Well, is Jesus a Davidic King, or not?

In reply to an earlier post on May 16, 2012 6:16:56 AM PDT
Kevin Bold says:
No, we just see her in Rev. 12, "clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars..."

A star for each original apostle, Hebrew tribe, and zodiacal constellation. Queen of HEAVEN.

That's a whole lot of words to say to try to prove what isn't able to be proven.

The mothers of Davidic kings were the queens in their sons' kingdoms, but Karen, Kathy, and the rest of the Protestants here can't get the connection -- even though this one is CLEARLY in Scripture.

You left off, "...to [Karen L. Naylor's] satisfaction."

Reasonable people, unlike Karen, do get it, though...

There is absolutely no evidence to support your "B-O-G-U-S" claim.

Faith,

Yes. The same EXACT reason that Jerome wanted not to include Revelation in the Vulgate.

Grace and Peace, Little Sister,

If that's true, you may want to reconsider using Jerome's opinion as a reason for considering the Deuterocanon "uninspired."

Faith,

RE: "With ideas like that I'm surprised we know his name today."

We remember his name because of the theology which returned the Church to the gospel, even if Rome refused the opportunity to also return...

Grace and Peace, Sister,

S.D.G.

Kevin Bold says:
"Rome" never left the Gospel.

Luther didn't "return" the Church to the "gospel."

Luther LEFT the Church when he became a neo-Hussite and took it upon himself to tinker with the Canon. The Church, under the Holy Spirit's guidance, ratified Luther's decision by excommunicating Luther and condemning his "theology" as heresy.

Jay Runner says:
Thanks be to God that one mere priest such as Jerome, or one bishop other than Rome's, does not have authority to speak for the entire church, but can only speak under the authority of the church.

Pearls, ONLY Jesus is called THE Son of Mary, Plus, Mary affirmed her intent of perpetual virginity as she questioned the ArchAngel Gabriel on how a FUTURE conception would take place, "Thou SHALL, (FUTURE) conceive", even PRIOR to the ArchAngel Gabriel revealing to Mary that this FUTURE conception would be accomplished by Divine Intervention. Also, Paul is called the BROTHER of Ananaias. Of the same womb? Even Luther and Calvin taught that Mary remained a virgin after she had Jesus. "Mary is incorrupt from sin by a special priveledge, for how could she who gave birth to the Author of grace, be lacking in grace", (Ambrose 387 AD). Also, you don't still read the bible do you, for the bible is filled with man made errors, for God cannot speak and teach infallibly even though sinful men such as Paul, Luke, James and Peter, no? Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

You are telling ME to stop, but apparently the Catholic church must be OK with Kevin's posts. Do they teach that??? Why are you making the claims about my post, in response to Kevin, yet you see nothing wrong with his. You are such a hypocrite...You know that verse about taking the log out of your own eye? I don't want to hear you ranting and raving about calling me "petty and spiteful." I have a question for you. When Kevin posts his ugly, disrespectful, hateful posts, do you cheer that he said what he said, do you think that he shouldn't have said that because that isn't what the Catholic church really teaches, or do you not even see there is anything offensive because, after all, he IS Catholic? What is your problem that you seem to want to jump all over me, when, often, my post is in reply to one of his obnoxious responses? Do you really not get it? To use one of Kevin's terms, which you must think is OK, since you didn't comment, are you really that "ignorant?"

Saint Karen says:
So what does that have to do with you insisting that she is queen of Heaven. Queen of Heaven in Scripture refers to paganism and idol worship, and that is not how God created Mary.

Rich, Mary affirmed that God saved her from sin, just as God saved Elijah from death, after all, of Jesus born of Mary, "who can bring a clean thing from an unclean thing." (Job 14:4), for just as God was also very specific about how His chosen dwelling place of old was to be designed, as it was to contain His law, (Exodus 25), all the more His Mother, as she was to contain the Author of the Law, for He Who is Mighty, has done to HER, Mighty THINGS! as Mary is the woman at emnity with satan, as emnity means opposition. (Genesis 3:15). Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

Saint Karen says:
Does the Catholic church approve of, or sanction the zodiac? The woman in Revelation suffered great pains in birth, yet, according to your church, not so with Mary.
