Yes, I didn't realize people were so clueless regarding Islam. My mistake.
The difference between what you say about Christians (of any era who wrongly did things in God's name) and Islams is that, for a Christian to do those things was to go against what Christ taught. For an Islam to do those things, they are doing what Mohammed taught. Only one of those groups is in error when they do violence in the name of God.
And no, it's not necessary to point out the things God had the Jewish people do. Those were specific things for a specific time. There is no "convert or kill" in Christianity.
As for the word infidel, I prefer unbeliever. If there are those that follow, there are those who do not. Choose the name for those who do not, it really doesn't matter what they are called. So no, it's not a matter of definition.
