Kevin Bold says:
Then explain why nothing he says is true, Pearls. Or why Gerry Matatics wiped the floor with him.

There's nothing to have "sour grapes" about. Svendsen is a liar, pure and simple, but he says what you want to hear.

While we know otherwise, for all purposes, He WAS Joseph's son.

Once again, it is not an "act" of the mother. It doesn't occur because of something she DOES... Perhaps YOU missed that day in biology...

Pearls and Karen, By nature yes, Jesus was sinless, and His mother by His grace, for of Jesus born of Mary, "Who can bring a clean thing from an unclean thing", (Job 14;4), for just as God was very specific about how His chosen dwelling place of old was to be designed, as it was to contain His law, (Exodus 25), all the more His mother, as she was to contain the Author of the Law, for He Who is Mighty, has done to HER, Mighty THINGS!, and so holy and immaculate was Mary by God's grace and design, and her cooperation with His grace, that EVEN the blameless before God Elizabeth felt unworthy as the mother of the Lord approached, for Mary is the woman at emnity with satan, as emnity means opposistion. (Genesis 3:15). "Mary was incorrupt from sin by a special priveledge, for how can she who gave birth to the Author of grace be lacking in grace", (Ambrose 387 AD). Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

Pearls, Yet, ONLY Jesus is called THE Son of Mary, plus, Mary affirmed her intent of perpetual virginity as she questioned how a FUTURE conception, "Thou Shall (FUTURE) conceive", Prior to the ArchAngel Gabriel revealing to Mary that this FUTURE conception would be accomplished by Divine Intervention. Ananias is also called the BROTHER of Paul. Of the same womb? Even Luther, Calvin and Zwingli taught that Mary remained a virgin after she had Jesus alone .Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

pearlsofgrace says: I've often wondered when she said "yes", as it is missing in my bible

Try Luke 1:38. You don't see the "yes" because you don't understand the concept of "idiom."

Luk 1:38 And Mary said, "BEHOLD, I AM THE HANDMAID OF THE LORD; LET IT BE TO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD." And the angel departed from her.

In the Vulgate, "let" is the same "let" as in "Let there be light":

Luke 1:38 dixit autem Maria ecce ancilla Domini FIAT mihi secundum verbum tuum et discessit ab illa angelus

Gen 1:3 dixitque Deus FIAT lux et facta est lux

(It's not "missing from [your] Bible," Pearls. It's missing from your personal knowledge.)

Kathleen says:
In Luke 1:38 she acknowledges that she's the Lord's handmaid (a female slave; bondmaid; one who worships God and submits to Him) and then says, "Be it unto me according to thy word" which they interpret as saying "yes." I don't think Gabriel was there to argue with her though. He already knew the Lord had prepared her heart to submit to His will. It was all a work of God from beginning to end.

Pearls, Indeed, Mary had made a vow of virginity, and if the husband agreed to that the law affirmed, then this vow was binding, (Numbers 30:6), hence Mary questioned the ArchAngel Gabriel on how a FUTURE conception, "Thou SHALL, (FUTURE) conceive", EVEN PRIOR to the ArchAngel Gabriel revealing to Mary that this FUTURE conception would be accomplished by Divine intervention. Pearls, You don't read the bible do you, for the bible is filled with man made errors, for God cannot speak and teach infallibly through sinful men, EVEN such as Peter, Paul, Luke and James, no? Also, "Mary was incorrupt from sin by a special priveledge, for how can she who gave birth to the Author of grace, be lacking in grace.", (Ambrose 387 AD). Peace always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

Kathleen, Actually, Mary's yes, like that of Jesus in the garden, was that of their OWN free will, who both had a share in our salvation, Jesus as God in primacy by the sheding of His Most Precious Blood, and mary in a secondary and great sense, by bringing forth the God/Man from her womb by her yes, and as even Paul affirms, "So I TOO shall save some", (1 Corinthians 9), as we are God's coworkers, (1 Corinthians 3). Peace to you always in the Most Precious Blood of Jesus our Great God and Saviour

You have no problem swallowing the camel of God interfering with Mary's free will, but you strain at the gnat of the Immaculate Conception...

Kath says: It was all a work of God from beginning to end.

Including the Immaculate Conception, in which all Christians believe.
