Irish Lace says:
Oh, yeah, I forgot... there are also the Mormons and Scientologists. Heavy doses of weirdness there.

"Also take a look at "the documentary Jesus Camp" if you want to see weird. "

Shudder! Yes!! Very weird. Also the Creation Museum.

"Let me know if you are up on the Mayan calendar and the whole 2012 ending. "

Wasn't that supposed to be May 12th? Or do I have my end-of-the-world predictions mixed up?

Irish Lace says:
Oh, d'er! 12/12/12. Of course!

Well, shoot! That's very inconvenient! I've already started my Christmas shopping. Should I wait, do you think, to continue it until after the 12th? I wouldn't want to waste the time and money if there isn't going to be a Christmas this year.

Bubba says:
I'm not going to start shopping until after 12/12. With Amazon Prime, I'll have plenty of time between the 12th and Xmas if it comes.

Ryan:And they had their own share of "whacky" stuff that they were mocked for but now we look back and we're ok with it, but at the time both of these movements were strongly opposed by other Christians.

SA: Wackiness with patina tends to be considered respectable. However, as you seem to imply, it is still wacky.

??faith without works is dead

SA: That is the catholic claim, if I recall correctly. The protestants claim Faith alone is sufficient. Neither has any evidence for their claim. So it would be better to ignore both, and just focus on being a good person (golden rule and such).

Sane Citizen says:
Actually, I live in a very small town called Carmel, California, and most of the houses around mine, including mine, do not have lawns. Just a lot of trees. But if you're into clearing pine needles, or clearing brush (what George 'awol' Bush did for more time than he governed, which was a lucky thing for America) maybe something could be arranged.
