I can't stand a flock of birds to this day. My favorite is Rebecca, closely followed by Rear Window and Notorious

'North by Northwest'. The pace of it is exhilarating, and Cary Grant is at his very best. A very close 2nd place would go to 'Vertigo' because the plot is so intriguing.

Rounding out my personal top five for Hitch would be: #3 -- Rear Window; #4 -- Notorious; #5 -- The 39 Steps.

Many great movies there. One that stays with me is "Rope" ... James Steward, Farley Grainger, John Dahl (is that right?)

Psycho and The Birds. I saw them both as a kid in a theater and they almost literally scared the crap out of me. Heavy duty stuff back then.

My favorite is LIFEBOAT (1944).

A super cast (even Hitch, as a before-and-after diet ad), an ideally dramatic situation (several cruise ship sinking survivors trapped in a small open boat with the enemy submariner whose torpedo put them there), great cinematography and a near-perfect script.

Alfred Hitchcock has to be my favorite director of all time (with Stanley Kubrick in 2nd place). His films were masterpieces that were both creative and inventive. He inspired a lot of the films you see today, and that's one of the many amazing things he did. My personal favorite would have to be either "Rear Window" or "Psycho".
