Hi all! Here's a game we can all play. I'll start off by mentioning a song title and artist. As the next person, you need to respond to that post by naming another song and artist which you immediately associate with the previous one. You should also state the reason why your choice reminds you of the former song and/or artist. There need not be any specific rule behind this, just the first thing that pops into your head.

For example:
If I post "American Pie" by Don McLean, you as the next person could mention "That'll Be The Day" by Buddy Holly, because the song "American Pie" talks about the death of Buddy Holly (`the day the music died'). Alternately, your next song could be the "American Pie" remake by Madonna. Or perhaps "The Saga Begins" by "Weird Al" Yankovic, which is a parody of the former song. Anything goes, as long as you keep the thread of association going.

OK, the official first song is:
"Born To Be Wild" by Steppenwolf.

GO!

7 Screaming Diz-Busters
Blue Oyster Cult

I always love the BOC version of Wild...which is off On Your Feet...
Diz-Buster is as "wild" as anything on that record...
It was an immediate reaction...took about 1/2 a second to come up with...

Screaming for Vengeance - Judas Priest

The word 'screaming' in the BOC song reminded me of the JP track featuring the same word. Aside from that, both of the artists are 70's/80's hard rock/metal bands, and both those songs are from peak albums of each band ("Tyranny & Mutation" and "Screaming for Vengeance" respectively).

Fine, no one wants to play; I'll create my own new association! ;op

Macho Man - The Village People.

The leather-clad look so proudly displayed by Priest vocalist Rob Halford reminded me of the bikie guy in The Village People and the associated song.

"Loving Her Was Easier" by Kris Kristofferson

When I hear the name Streisand, I always think immediately of her A STAR IS BORN co-star Kristofferson; this is my favorite Kristofferson song.

Knockin on Heaven's Door...Dylan

From the soundtrack to the movie Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (starring Kris Kristofferson)

"Keep Me In Your Heart" by Warren Zevon

From his masterful swan song THE WIND, which also contains a haunting version of "Knocking On Heaven's Door"

"Open up, open up, open, open up, open up for me."

"Gave Me Your Heart" by Slaughter

Never heard the Zevon song, however the common words shared by both song titles made me think of the above track. It rocks hard too!

"Boyz Are Gonna Rock" by Vinnie Vincent Invasion

Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum of Vinnie Vincent Invasion would go on to form Slaughter.

Randy,
I've got both VVI albums on my current iPod playlist!

"Lick It Up" by KISS.

Vinnie Vincent was the guitarist on that particular KISS song and it's parent album.

No, I like it.

"Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits

I always thought the line "See the little ****** with his earrings and his make-up" referred to Boy George.

"Can't You See" by Marshall Tucker Band

I just always thought of "Tuesday's Gone" and "Can't You See" as a matching set of bookends; I can't really explain it.
