'Abbey Road' by the Beatles is the best example I can think of. Side two's medley is a masterpiece. Side one had two classics ("Come Together" and "Something"), two duds ("Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Octopuss' Garden"), and two just-OK songs ("Oh ! Darling" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)").

Saxon's "Denim and Leather"

Side 2 was far more consistant than Side 1 and two of my favorite songs are featured on Side 2

Pink Floyd - "Atom Heart Mother" - I find the suite which comprises side one mostly unlistenable. But side two contains three great Floyd tracks in a row and a nice instrumental piece to close.

While I enjoy side one of Pink Floyds 'Meddle' I really think side two with "Echoes" is better.

Meddle, Pink Floyd...listening to Echoes still takes me to a different place.
