Joseph Leopold Eybler, born 1765.

March's favorite composer! Also, I seem to remember that he was the first guy to be asked to complete Mozart's Requiem.

ACKKK !

How could I miss Eybler?!

And you're right about Mozart's Requiem:
"After Mozart's death, Constanze Mozart asked Eybler to complete her husband's Requiem. Eybler tried but could not complete the commission perhaps, it is thought, because of his great respect for the music of his friend Mozart."

A thought ---
Maybe he commissioned the Requiem?

bejart7092 - somehow I connect Gyrowetz to you (friendly smile).
You might want to celebrate his birthday, too:
Adalbert Gyrowetz (Austrian) born 19 Februar 1763.

I take that a a high compliment, although not sure Adalbert would agree. Not all sources must agree on his date of birth since the two I check have his as tomorrow.

Thanks for the post. I'll certainly celebrate it over the next 2 days --

bejart7092 -
yes, it's a bit confusing. German Wikipedia says: 19, English Wiki: 20, Swedish Wiki: 19 or 20.

I found a website of the Library of the Bavarian State, showing a book called "Biography of Adalbert Gyrowetz [Written by himself]". It says: 19 February. But still, scientific research might have found out otherwise ...

I think in that period births were normally registered with the church authorites the day after. There is still confusion. When I was a sprout, Beethoven's birthday was assumed to be December 17, although now it is assumed to be December 16.

From Wiki: "There is no authentic record of the date of his birth; however, the registry of his baptism, in a Roman Catholic service at the Parish of St. Regius on 17 December 1770, survives As children of that era were traditionally baptised the day after birth in the Catholic Rhine country, and it is known that Beethoven's family and his teacher Johann Albrechtsberger celebrated his birthday on 16 December, most scholars accept 16 December 1770 as Beethoven's date of birth."
