I found out today that my student prime membership is cancelled. I would have appreciated at least an e-mail that they were going to cancel my membership.

I agree with couple of the other posts that I read: we, students, primarily opened account on amazon because of the free shipping incentive, and I as I am sure most other students have made amazon one of my primarily places to get my products specifically because of free fast shipping.

It would be beneficial to amazon to extend the promotion to its student customers.

I would definitely join if they had a second year program for students, this would be especially useful for grad students like myself!

I would like to get a second year year of free shipping--not only is it extremely helpful for my school books, but I also shop more on Amazon because of it!

I could really use another free year of Amazon Prime. My free 2 day shipping was terminated the other day, and now I look for other companies that offer free shipping when I buy things instead of going straight to Amazon. It was a bad decision on Amazon's part to take this benefit away from me and other students. I spent a lot of money on Amazon because I knew what I bought was going to arrive in 2 days. Do The Right Thing Amazon and Give College Students an Extension on "Prime" Memberships! You are going to lose a lot of business if you do not.

More student amazon prime would be nice but I agree that just the $39/yr discount is fantastic. Everything is always better for free of course, but if $39/yr is about as close as we can get to being "free" I'll take it.

I'm with everyone else... I ordered a TON of stuff on Amazon when I had free student shipping. Since it's run out I haven't ordered anything. I would love another free year, although I guess it's probably saving me money on impulse buys not to have it?

I know right, I want to buy books for research but, i've been looking around to see if there are any online stores that would ship them for free. my purchases on amazon was put on halt ever since my 1 year prime membership expired! Would totally love and appreciate a second year.

Just cancel Netflix, pay the $39 and enjoy Prime shipping and Prime digital content for a year. I bet half the people in this thread are paying Netflix $96 a year.

In reply to an earlier post on May 3, 2012 4:40:03 PM PDT
Are you insane? In what universe is the Prime streaming content a suitable replacement for Netflix?

$96 a year? I pay way more than that. But, the streaming selection Netflix has isn't completely satisfying either, and I really don't understand how anyone could be completely pleased with it alone. But, we don't really buy or go out to movies anymore, so we save far more than we spend on the Netflix subscription. And, yes, I paid for the Student Prime without a fuss as well, and have already saved more than it cost me on that front as well.

Defbrizzo says:
Why do you pay more than $8 a month for Netflix streaming? And for my family, Prime streaming has everything we watched on Neflix. Secondly, we can pay for NEW movies on Amazon with promo credits when they offer them. Which is often. We have watched 6 new movies free on Prime this year so far. Everything else we like is free.

In reply to an earlier post on May 4, 2012 10:00:29 AM PDT
I don't. I pay more than $8 a month for Netflix streaming PLUS DVDs. We're movie lovers in this family. One or two new releases in a month would never cut it for us, especially needing to either watch on the laptop screen or connect the laptop to the TV to use it as a display. The streaming service Prime offers isn't bad per se, but it will NOT fully satisfy most people. Netflix has far more selection, which will satisfy quite a few, but there's still a pretty big gap there, in my opinion. It is improving though. I have recently seen more movies getting added to the streaming service not long after release. If EVERYTHING you want is offered via the Amazon Prime streaming service, then you're actually in the minority. Your solution would NOT be satisfying to most. Why? Because Amazon isn't even trying to be competition for Netflix. They're offering a perk for Prime users, but at just $79 or $39 a year per subscriber, including shipping and all, they know they can't compete. Instead, they're offering what they can just as a bonus. A tiny percentage of households will be happy just with that, but the majority will want more.

I join all the rest of the folks who say they would be on board if this were offered again. Still a student and the student membership almost always tips the scales toward Amazon for me. Since it expired I've been looking elsewhere. Please reinstate.

Are their any free accounts. for educators dealing with children on the disabled spectrum? If so, how do I access it?
