You should try Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, from Lisa See; Water for Elephants from Sara Gruen; The Thirteenth Tale from Diane Setterfield; Innocent Traitor, a novel of lady Jane Grey from Alison Weir; Marie Antoninette, a journey from Antonia Fraser.

I realize it's probably too soon to really list favorites, but I'd like to see if there are any amazing books I've missed this year. Here are two of mine:
Pieces of My Sister's Life, by Elizabeth Arnold: This book by a new (now favorite) author was recommended to me by a friend, and WOW--A beautifully written, stunning page turner. I was just swept away, honestly couldn't put this book down. I could tell as soon as I read the first chapter that it was something special.

Run, by Ann Patchett--Beautifully crafted, three-dimensional characters, and a wonderful study of an adoptive family. The story starts with tragedy, but manages to end with hope. Another book I couldn't put down.
