GW,

I read the negative reviews first, There were no 1 stars. The problem was missing nuts and bolts and missing
grills, the other, was that it was too big for the regular size family smoking, but the Kettle Weber was just fine for just one giant whole turkey.

In all cases Weber was very cooperative, and there were no complaints about the function of the smoker . Bunch of 5 Stars!!!

Nancy,

I am sort of a nut case, but in truth, I do kinda live by that motto!!!
When I put the toaster oven outside, I decieded I would just give in a quick swipe
with some detergent, but no spit & pollish. If it got too ugly or smoked to much, INTO THE TRASH!

Think it over!!

Oh, I got mixed up.
I thought you gave me permission for the toaster oven.

Yeah, I AM waiting on the smoker.

If I had a huge family I'd do it but you know the Rev's idea of heavenly food is a Banquet Frozen Dinner so I'm not about to spend my dinero on that Weber til I have a NEW husband!

PS, they have a smaller one for a hundred $ less.

GW, I thought about a smoker, many moons ago , when I caught fish in Baja California. That Item has not been on my list in the past 6 years.
It's just that you have to put the thing together and that ain't my bag!!

GW, isn't there a way to smoke inside a cast iron Dutch Oven??? You could use the Max for heat, and not run the electricty bill

My list of favorite kitchen tools is growing as the years go by. Why? As things wear out I need to replace them and the replacement items are lousy.

** Ecco vegetable peeler (1960's type or earlier) They stay sharp forever.
** 1100 - 1500 watt water kettle
** Yes, my wooden spoons; one particular one is best of all ... it's from the 1950's.
** Wooden handled, metal rod, meat fork, also from the 1950's.

Yeah Beck...that's the one I'm thinking of getting, too.
It's big enough for me.
It has great reviews...do YOU like it?

Oh....I just read your follow-up post.
Well read all the reviews because many folks had great tips for using it. I remember there was a website mentioned too.

I think you're gonna LOVE it.

Miss Pony,
I was not interested in the elecrtic smokers.
It was the Weber Charcoal smoker.

This is the one we had bought. It totally rusted thru within 18 months time.
Char-Broil Offset Smoker American Gourmet Deluxe Charcoal Grill (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

The one I am going to purchase now is the Weber 22 inch round kettle grill, it has many great reviews and is what we had many years ago until hubby decided to go to gas cooking outside, then he gave our old Weber away and I've wanted to strangle him ever since.

I don't have a gardening website. I was actually trying to think of name for livejournal I think, and at the time I did a lot of gardening.

I'm in Louisiana, lots of heat and swamp

We got the smoke and spice cookbook Smoke & Spice: Cooking with Smoke, the Real Way to Barbecue (Non) and tonight I put the rub on a brisket. Tomorrow morning at 5 AM I am going to be out on the patio, probably swearing and wondering why I bought the thing LOL.

Becky,

I'm stuck in Southern-Eastern California Desert, Where you get around in a 20 mule Team (Not a one horse town)
Dry, windy, either too hot or too cold, no in-be-tween! I have 2 tropical houseplants, that I hover over testing the moisture in the soil and giving it light sprays.

On the plus side No bathroom mold problems.

I lived in El Paso Texas for over 3 years, loved the dry heat and the desert. The only thing I didn't like about living there was poking the laundry for scorpions :)

Beck,
I'm in the Foothills of suburban Los Angeles.
Hot & dusty with wind-driven FIRES a couple times a year.
What those conditions don't destroy, the gophers DO.

Smood by Dreamfarm

This is my favorite for when I need to mash potatoes, avocados, leeks, squash, etc. It may be once or twice every three weeks or so, but the smood puts my old potato ricer to shame. I can't explain it so I put up a link, it's basically a pyramid shaped spring. I have my favorite Shun Santoku that I use for everything. Lately I've been keeping an eye on the Calphalon Katana series, and I hate to say it, but they look awesome, more importantly they've gotten good reviews. Has anybody tried solar cooking? 3 ovens? 4 ovens? haha I wish I had 2!
