I am leaving the country music community for good. Its obvious all people do is fight here and its not fun. Will seems to force his opinion down everyone's throats, and if you disagree then you get black balled

But before I go- I wish someone would at least give a critique of Meade Skelton's music (not his ancient albums but his newer vinyl releases- my loudoun county home/from the outside looking in). Explain their dislikes and likes (if any) so that Meade can grow and mature as a performer. And also, if people say he just sucks, then explain how so. People devoid of talent cant play piano and sing at the same time. If its a question of the material- how can Meade improve this?

This is the last post I will make here. I wont even reply , except to see responses via email.

On the last note , I want to apologize for "ruining" the Country Music threads. I didn't realize this was such elite bunch of people.

Explain what Meade does wrong that you do not like. Is he off key? Does he play piano badly? Is it the songwriting? What? You just said "he sucks". Its not sufficient. If you said- its not my style, or I dont care for it, then fine. You dont need to be cruel.

Will, Im still waiting for an answer as to WHY you think Meade is so terrible. I will provide a few more samples. Please judge for stage presence, musical performance, vocal ability, originality, etc. Why cant you at least oblige? You didnt give an opinion, you gave an insult. Thats not an opinion.

When I went to that Skeleton link on youtube - I thought the thread was started as a joke. What I heard and saw was worse than any five-year old solo I've seen performed in church, it was even worse than most karaoke nights I've attended. Had I known it was the actual artist posting the thread I could've been kinder. If you want to post anonymously then you should take the criticism and learn from it. No matter what words are used. I think you have heard the Country thread's view. Maybe you can work on it and perhaps sell it at the nearest elementary school's next assembly.

You didnt like "Worried Heart"? What other songs did you hear by Meade Skelton? I enjoy Hipsters Ruin Everything. Meade is Alternative Country- not for everyone. Ironically, most of his fans are people that normally dont like Country Music. So I guess its only Country fans that hate Meade? Why cant you be a bit nicer and at least explain what it is you thought wasn't right about his performance. His appegios on the piano were pretty good. He has a 3 and a half octave range as a vocalist. Hes on pitch. What is wrong with it? If its the style of music you dont like- that is highly subjective.

You just said it sucks without any explanation. Thats being mean and spiteful.
I cant post my personal email on here, you know as well as I do. Why not write it on one of his videos or post a comment on his youtube channel

David says:
Meade/Ernest: This is honest opinion as someone who has sung for over 50 years. Meade needs lots of practice. His vocal quality, while passable in a church setting, doesn't play well anywhere else. You are off pitch and flat most of the time. The timing, how you keep up with the music is ok but you need to take voice lessons. They will teach you proper breath contol, how to stay on pitch , etc., etc. Your playing is, again, passable for a church setting only and really needs work on the fills. You have a good idea of the melody but the back/fill part needs work. You also need to work on your stage presence. You seem stiff and out of your element when on stage. You asked for constructive criticism and that's what I'm giving you.

ERnest/Meade: Please listen to this video for:

A: Tonal Quality
B: Pitch
C: On key
D: Flow

You may not like the song or singers but ONLY listen for the areas I have listed. This will show you how it's supposed to be done.

David,
I only know how to sing from the heart. I appreciate your comments. Could you show me exactly where Im off pitch/ off key? I dont understand.
I have a very good ear for music and such. Also what about my songs? I seem stiff on stage? Im just trying to be myself and natural.
But again- I do appreciate fair criticism. If Im flat off key, why do so many people enjoy my singing?

David watch this video- it has some of my fans in there. Listen to how I sing from the heart, not and not affected or off key

1 Tonal Quality- Nasal, affected
2. Pitch - Good
3. On Key- Good
4. Flow- Totally affected for emotional effet. Not genuine. Not honest. Not from the heart. Over done. Not believeable. Would not buy his records.

Isnt it funny- what you think is good singing to me sounds awful.

If you think Im off key, then your ears are getting pretty old.

David says:
I watched Meade....I stand by my original post....you are flat in a lot of spots and you need much, much more practice to get better. You also don't need as much tremelo in your voice, at least on that song, as you are putting in it but maybe the tremelo is natural which is OK. Your voice just needs training. Without pushing yourself to have the best voice that you possibly can you will never improve.

David says:
Meade: They were drunk and can't sing. You weren't drunk. If you'll just get help with your voice and piano playing you'll get better.

SouthernGent says:
David, how am I flat? Perhaps you are mistaking my phrasing for pitch. I have very good pitch. James Dupre is much flatter than I have ever sang in my life. That guy you posted does not sing from his heart.

Here are people who aren't drunk and cant sing. This is off pitch singing. I do not sing like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RAhHcNIikg

Are you saying Tim McGraw is a better singer than me? Its a matter of taste. Its subjective? How is my stage presence "stiff"? Im not a Rock musician. I have natural stage presence.

SouthernGent says:
First Im a bad singer, now you're attacking my piano playing. What about my songwriting? David, if you're so good, how come Ive never heard of you? How many records have you made?

David says:
Meade:Totally affected for emotional effet. Not genuine. Not honest. Not from the heart. Over done. Not believeable.

Me: Meade, it might interest you to know that they wrote that song in response to their 4 yr. old niece dying of leukemia so....not honest?...not genuine?....NOT from the heart?.....son, you just don't have a clue do you? You want a music career so bad but you won't help yourself by going to someone who CAN help you...I'm sorry..in order to suceed in anything you have to be able to take criticism....you obviously can't so you will not get far....church and the occasional "Who wants to sing at the uptown fair" is about all you'll ever accomplish.
