C. Batty says:
You really think teenager girls should be underweight and banging 40 year olds? Some role model.

And honey, this is what the people want--I'm just getting started.

C. Batty:

You guys ???

LOL.

I am always amazed at how she uses the (( we )) word when she gives an opinion . . . and the ((you guys )) when when she starts accusing someone.

No, you just have to be 19 and target 40 year olds.

Hey, I hear Hef's single again.

C. Batty says:
Why did you make writes and songs possessive? What do they own?

C. Batty says:
Interestingly, for all the talk of Taylor being a "good role model," when ABC family had to pick a country singer to base a TV show on, they picked Miranda Lambert.

Really, this is what a college education will get you? 12 majors, and 9 minors, wasn't it? Great way to apply all that "learning", trolling on an internet forum. Things must be slow around Austin tonight...

What does either have to do with music, and how do you know so much about her private life, which is none of your business?

How do you know who, or how many men, if any, she is involved with. or what they do?

Been reading gossip?

You are obsessed with Taylor Swift.
Jealous much?

I think she's great. I don't buy her music because I'm a middle-aged woman. But if I was a teenage girl again, I would definitely be into her music. If I had a daughter, I would much rather her be into Taylor Swift than Miley Cyrus or many of the others who seem rather superficial.

She is a singer-songwriter in the truest sense of the term. Her voice is fine -- not the greatest, but that is never the main point with singer-songwriters. Her voice sounds "just right" when she is singing her own material -- her authenticity comes through. I didn't think she sounded very well when she sang Brenda Lee's I'm Sorry on that Grammy nominating show or whatever it was, but the producers probably picked it for her and it was a poor choice. She should not be singing power ballads. Her duet with Stevie Nicks on Rhiannon was not a shining moment either -- again, she should stick with her own material.

It's too bad that there is so much backlash against her right now. I see her as somebody who could evolve and grow as an artist and do some really interesting things with her career. I don't think she is just a flash in the pan. Remember, this is a girl who was hired as a songwriter to write material for other artists when she was only fourteen. She is already quite prolific and seems to have a strong creative drive.

Nice post!
I don't own her albums either, but I agree with you.
I too, have previously stated that she is young, and could evolve as many artists do.

1. She makes the front page of every tabloid thank to her pulicist.
2. She writes about it, making sure to splash it everywhere she can.

Well put. :)

She's not my cup of tea; but the way I see it, either her young fans will grow out of her, or -- more likely -- she'll grow up with her fans. Either way, I don't the point in getting worked up about her!

Gena:

I believe that timing is everything.

Most of you are younger than me.

Much younger.

And . . . probably . . . most of you have grown up listening to music that I thought was being directed at a much younger listening audience.

I was already twenty in seventy . . . and servin' in Vietnam.

That means . . . as a tripped out Easy Rider relic from the sixties . . . I probably never fully appreciated the more youth oriented music that many of you grew up with.

I would imagine that artists like Michael Jackson . . . Madonna . . . Britney Spears . . . New Kids On The Block . . . and NSYNC have a special meaning to some of you reading.

In much the same way . . . I believe that Taylor Swift and the other more popular artists of today will eventually become the fond memories for those even younger than us.
