I just learned that Yahoo! owns 40% in a company that does shark finning in China.
This is where they cut the fins off of the sharks and then throw the shark back in the water. This lets them drown as they have no way to swim off or defend themselves if other predators come along. The Chinese does this for their shark fin soup.
