Does anyone know of a CD player that would be simple for an older person with visual imparement? It needs to have larger, well marked buttons. Good contrast would be helpful.

Thanks

You may want to consider a used player. NAD made some great products that can be found on auction sites at very reasonable prices.

I do not know of a CD player that meets your criteria, however a possible solution might be an MP3 player such as the Sansa View or others with a large lcd screen - these are very bright and high resolution - and installing the Rockbox software which allows the use of custom font sizes and playback screens as well as the use of voice commands for the visually impaired.

Try http://www.rockbox.org for a list of supported mp3 players - you can also look at the "themes" available which give the players a different style of interface.

An mp3 player will hold much more audio than a cd player, and a player that supports sd ram cards can be easily upgraded to more memory or different program content stored on mulitiple cards.

I own 3 Sandisk Sansa players and have used them for more than 4 years, they are still on the original batteries, which are user changeable.

CD's will be obsolete in 5 years, Sony is down to 1 pressing plant in the US after closing the NJ facility in 2010.

This is exactly what I'm looking for, for my 92 year old mother. Your post was in 2009. What did you finally purchase?
Thank you.

I purchased a CD with AM/FM radio for someone older.
He loved it except the CD player did not work.
Amazon was kind enough to give me a refund.
Any ideas for a replacement would be helpful.
