I have a new Fallen Angels Series coming your way and just wanted to share what it's all about. The series is called the Warriors for the Light. The fallen walk among us (this is assuming you're human) in their human form, but have the ability to shift into their more angelic form, too. However, they are forbidden to reveal their true self to us.

In the book of Enoch, the Fallen Angels are called the Grigori or Watchers. They were sent here to earth to observe mankind. My angel shifters are no different. They observe and keep the history, while never becoming involve with the humans. A relationship is forbidden, but in the first book of the series, Eli manages the unspeakable. He falls in love with a human, claiming she's his soul mate. Now all he has to do is prove it.

Here's my questions to all of you: What draws you to want to read about angels or fallen angels? What is your take on an angel being the hero or the heroine? Do you expect them to be tough warriors? Sweet? What do you think about them being shifters?

If you're interested:
Blurb for Eli: Warriors for the Light
At a very young age the Rules of Conduct for the Fallen Angels were drummed into Eli Grigori's head. Rule number one: Do not befriend a human. Rule number two: Do not interfere in their lives. Rule number three: Do not have relations with a human. Rule number four: Under no circumstances will you ever reveal your true self. He managed to break all of the above.

Ol' Hallow's Eve is the day the veil between worlds are thin. It's the only day out of the year the preternatural beings are allowed to walk among the humans as their true selves. With Eli's wings bound and his glamour stripped, the Elders send him back in time before Ryden O'Sullivan knew the truth about him. If she is truly his soul mate, then her heart should recognize him.

There are those among the Watchers who are afraid Eli might succeed in his quest for love. If he does, everything will change within the brethren. Hashasheen demons, assassins for hire are sent to take out Eli and Ryden. Eli is a warrior and will fight to keep Ryden safe, but time may be his biggest enemy. The Elders gave him until the end of Ol' Hallow's Eve. Ryden must fall in love with him by then or his life will be forfeited.

Take Care,
Karen

>>What draws you to want to read about angels or fallen angels?

I think it's a genre that is relatively unexplored and I would like to see different author twists on them. I particularly love descirptions of angels' wings and flying.

>>What is your take on an angel being the hero or the heroine?

It's about time! (other than nalini singh, any other mainly angels Adult romanace books?)

>>Do you expect them to be tough warriors? Sweet?

I think you would have to classify the angels - different classess with different resp
eg warriors-are supposed to be indifferent (perhaps they need warriors to fight with fallen angels?)
guardian angels- caring/ interested

>>What do you think about them being shifters?

shifting into human form in orde to blend in- fine
but shifting to other animals eg werewolf- no thanks...that's taking it to the paranormal side.

overall-it looks like the beginnings of a fantastic story

The angels can only shift to a human form and back to the angelic being at will. No animals. That would seem silly and defeat the purpose of them being angels or half angels in this case.

I appreciate you sharing your views.

Hi Karen.
I enjoyed how you worked facts from the Book of Enoch into this book and I loved Eli. I cannot wait for Bad Boy Lucca's story and see if he redeems himself. And I agree shifting from angel to human and back is enough shifter action. I love angels as heroes or heroines as I was raised to believe that angels are God's emissaries and help us. It's that fact also that leads me to want to read about them.

Becca,

I'm glad you liked the facts about the Book Enoch. It was really something to actually see the Dead Sea Scroll and the preserved sections of the Book of Enoch.

Lucca has a lot to atone for, but I believe you'll be happy with the results.

Fallen Angels have always been a fascinating subject for me, as also the Book of Enoch. GREAT post, Karen! Ive been working on a manuscript for almost 6 months about a Fallen Angels Romance. Im hoping to have it done before end of year and submitted but just when I think its almost finished something more wants to be added! LOL! It may turn into a Series, too!

And I do look forward to reading what other authors come up with, writing about Fallen Angels. The genre is really catching on! YAY!

Hi Kari!

I love your books so I know I'll enjoy your Fallen Angel Romance. You'll have to keep me posted. What's it about? Can you give us a sneak peek of what to expect?

In reply to an earlier post on Sep 7, 2010 10:22:34 AM PDT
Rules are OK; just have clear cut, enforced consequences. I just don't like it when an author gives rules and doesn't follow up with what happens when they are broken.

Hi back, Karen! Im still in the plotting/adding/deleting/etc process because its a Series, so I cant talk about it ---LOL---Im afraid to jinx myself!! But (grin) of course, its about the Fallen Angels. This has long been a fascinating subject to me. Im so glad to see it starting to appear in the Romance genre!

hugs, Kari

I'm pleased to see Fallen Angels are catching on, too. I wouldn't want you to jinx yourself so tell us when you're ready. :) I can't wait for the details. I wish you well with it---and not pressure, but hurry! lol

Voracious Reader,

Yes, there has to be consequences enforced otherwise why have rules? :) Thanks for stopping by and chatting.

Karen, as someone who writes about children of the fallen angels or Nephilim, I'm happy to see more authors writing about FAs. Unlike you, I have demons/bad Nephilim who shift into smoke, part animals.... I did use the Book of Enoch too, which was cool and hard to read. Looking forward to checking out your book.

Ednah,

The Book of Enoch is definitely fascinating.

I checked out your book, Awakened. Congratulations on your new release. It has me intrigued. :)

Thanks Karen. So does yours. I like that yours can't reveal themselves to humans, but Grigori still does exactly what the original Grigori/Watchers did, fall for a human. Must be one heck of a love story. Will add it to my TBR pile :)

As a trad. published angel fiction author, I have always loved the concept of the angel as warrior. I have also explored the theme of the Nephilim (the offspring of angels and mortals)--that whole area of mythology is endlessly open to interpretation.

I tackled the concept of angel warrior-meets-girl in my debut novel, and have had quite a bit of fun extending out from there, touching on angels, demons, and the like. I still rely on many of my nonfiction resources to shape my characters (including transliterations of the Book of Enoch). I would love to see the genre become more popular (I write angels and demons like other authors write vampires and werewolves and can't see myself writing anything else), but would hate to see it become "trendy" to the detriment of these magnificent celestial beings.

FYI: for anyone who is on Goodreads, I am the moderator of the Angels and Demons Group. All are invited to join:

Hi Danielle,

I'm with you on hoping Angels do not become the next vampire craze, but a little more notice would be all right by me. I'll have to check out your books.

Going over to Goodreads now to check out the Angels and Demons group. Thanks for telling us about it.
