A rhyming thread?
Oh my poor brain.
Does it have what it will take?

I start typing
Stop and think.
Gee I'd like a cupcake.

Now see that,
My mind just wandered.
Just as if it's not awake.

Back to typing,
I need a thought.
Something with which to make.

A good poem
A fun rhyme.
Did my fingernail just break?

This is hopeless,
Really useless,
It all just sounds so fake.

I'll leave for now,
I need to eat.
I think I'll go grill a steak.

I am delighted! Although given the absolute production of nothing when I asked my brain for a contribution, I think I will have to stick to reading. But what is art without an audience? :-)

Absolutely true. And besides, nobody does humorous, true-life stories like you.

You and me, both. People who can make us laugh are so very special.

Glad to know it! Another one just forced its' way out in the appropriate thread... Please do with it what you will! :p

But that is the beauty of the internet. It brings people with different talents together to enjoy what each is best at. I'm so happy with all of us meeting I could burst into song.

Luckily you can't hear me, because singing in key is most definitely not one of my talents!

I agree. And there is something else that Kalibird does with her stories. She makes me realize that even in very difficult circumstances one can see the humor and that can help one through those very circumstances. Knowing someone else is able to get through their hard times with humor is so helpful to me. Thank you, Kalibird!

Anna and MaryG thank you! I never really thought of it as a talent...

One of the reasons I do this "thing" with stories is exactly what you have both picked up on... It makes life easier. Or at least happier and less scary. After 18 soul destroying years as a high level accoutant I had had enough of the negativity that came along with it. So ever since I fled that career I have tried to turn things around and see the positive, and the humor, in it all. That is WAY more fun than the alternative. Plus weird things just happen to me.

And I think I had a lot of early influence from reading Gerald Durrell. That man could make anything funny! And you can see how he took the tough things in life and found the good, and the humor in it. It makes me happy to try to do something similar. :)
