I had a heart attack in early Feb. In late Feb. I developed a pinched nerve which kept me from standing or walking for more then a few minutes at a time. Just had back surgery, and have been forbidden to bend over or lift anything. I have been told to walk several times a day, 30 steps at a time, and build up from there. Will see the Dr. at the end of Sept. Any suggestions for rehab exercises after he approves?? My muscles, endurance, and flexibility are all shot to heck. I'm 60, female, and overweight. I had lost 20 pounds prior to heart attack, but have gained about 8 back because of inactivity.

Sunpentown Healthy Swing Machine with Swivel Disc might be helpful. It's very gentle on the lowest setting but I'd ignore the swivel disc that comes with it at first to reduce the motion. It swings your ankles and that "swimming goldfish" movement travels up your body to your hips, back and even to your neck. Try it for a short time and if it hurts at all discontinue but it's worked great for my sore back and neck, even does a better job on a disc in my mid-back than my chiropractor. It shouldn't count as exercise but 20 minutes 3 times a week seems to be the equivalent of a short exercise session, at least I've lost weight with that regimen. You can move your arms to change the part of your body that gets the most impact from the swinging or even put your fingertips on your face or scalp to help with a headache.
