I've found that there are a lot of good quotes in the Harry Potter series (books and movies), so in this topic, you can write down your favorite quotes. Here's one of my favorites:

"Mr. Crouch?" said Percy, suddenly abandoning his look of poker-stiff dissapproval and positively writhing with excitement. "He speaks over two hundred! Mermish and Gobbledegook and Troll...
"Anyone can speak Troll," said Fred dismissively. "All you have to do is point and grunt."

Somewhere in this forum is a "favorite quotes" topic, but I think it was movie quotes. I hope it hasn't lemminged off, but I don't have time to look today....

"We'll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat!" (one of the twins to Ginny, SS)

1593 says:
Imaging if something goes wrong and we remain scrawny, specky, gits forever! (Fred and George talking about the polyjuice in DH)

MSM--there is another "favorite quotes" topic (for the HP movies), but I didn't know that when I created this discussion form. However, this topic is for movies and books. Anyways, I guess we might as well follow the same rules as the other form to make it more trivia-fun. So, find the person who said it and the book/movie this quote is from. Then post your own! (My apologies to the creator of the "Harry Potter Movie Quotes".)

"What is the function of a rubber duck?"

Arthur Weasley immediately after meeting HP.

"Not good, brilliant!" (Clue: it's the quote for tomorrow on my HP desk calendar.)

Ron to Hermione after she punches Draco and Draco et al run awaayyy, in PoA.

"Pleasure."

That's Hermione in the Hogwarts Express after Ron introduced himself (SS).

"Poor old Snuffles...imagine having to live off rats".

Ron to Hermione and Harry after visiting Sirius in Hogsmeade.

"I had two try to pay me with great gold coins the size of hubcaps ten minutes ago..."

No idea, Jessica.
But here's another one:
"We fly, of course."

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 23, 2011 9:12:13 AM PDT
Alan-- that's Luna in OotP, just before taking Thestrals to London.

Jessica-- Is that in GoF? Fairy gold? Otherwise, I'm drawing a blank too!

So, another... "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

It was actually Mr. Roberts, talking to Arthur Weasley at the Quidditch World Cup, and yes it was in the GoF

MSM-Was it Kreacher in The Deathly Hallows?

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 24, 2011 6:35:10 AM PDT
Actually, it was a movie scene, but I do believe that's how Kreacher voiced his sentiments during the battle, too.

1593 says:
Fred and George were going at each other in GoF after trying to enter the Triwizard Tournament. The crowd around them were egging them on "Fight, Fight, fight!"

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 25, 2011 8:05:59 AM PDT
Silly me. I just watched it. Seamus was the one most obviously saying, "Fight, fight, fight."

"I may have just found another one."

(BTW, re: Harry falling. He falls in the chase in DH1.)

The above quote is actually important and a delightful moment in the movie that I don't think ever appears in the book. The actor who says it reads the line to perfection.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 27, 2011 10:08:19 AM PDT
That's Dumbledore, realizing that Harry carries a piece of Voldy's moldy soul in him. I agree-- good line and well done.

And yes, Seamus leads Hogwarts in a display of coarse rowdiness just as the Durmstrang delegation marches in to enter for the Tournament. Good one Seamus!

Ah-- "If you know where to look."

In SS, Harry just found out he is a wizard. He has a list of his needed school supplies and hasn't a clue about obtaining them. Hagrid answers "If you know where to look." Am I on the right track?

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 27, 2011 11:14:10 AM PDT
I think the dialogue goes like this:
"Hagrid, can I get all of this in London?"
"It's easy, if you know where to look."
Thanks 1593 for the clue, or I'd still be racking my brain.

"He smelled my perfume."

1593 says:
Ah, someone else has the DH DVD! That was Hermione during the camping. The snatcher Scabior is walking by her separated by the protective enchantments. He can's see or hear her, but he could smell her perfume. I think she found this a bit unnerving.

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 28, 2011 10:05:37 AM PDT
I'd forgotten the perfume...

Alan and 1593-- Yep, that was it. I do believe it's a London joke that you can find anything for sale... see "Bedknobs and Broomsticks."

Posted on Apr 29, 2011 6:31:15 PM PDT
Speaking of Bedknobs and Broomsticks, I can't help but think that somehow JKR got the idea of animating suits of armors (Battle of Hogwarts II) from that movie...but I digress...

Who's up next in giving us a quote?

In reply to an earlier post on Apr 30, 2011 6:05:42 AM PDT
I don't know that I'm next, but I'll put out an easy one.

"I, uh, figured that one out for myself."

Posted on Apr 30, 2011 11:16:08 PM PDT
1593 says:
This quote is from HBP. Harry overhears Snape telling Draco that he has promised Draco's mother with the unbreakable vow to help him with his assignment. Harry then tells Ron about the conversation then asks Ron what is the unbreakable vow. Ron answers "You can't break an unbreakable vow" to which Harry responds "I, uh, figured that much out for myself."

"That would be an unkindness, Hermione"

In reply to an earlier post on May 1, 2011 9:07:33 AM PDT
I don't know, but it's a great quote.

1593 says:
No takers?

It had to do with S.P.E.W. After Hagrid turned her down, he said "......"
