Hi All, as a dual format collector since '07, I thought I'd add a thread, as most forums have, to chime in with the last disc you purchased.

Mine was The Tin Drum (Japanese Import).

My other threads are the Blu-Ray Price Reductions & Upcoming Releases in the BD Forum.

I also help moderate & post many movie deals at a 2600+ member "movie hobby" discussion group (all formats discussed-dvd, hd dvd, blu, laserdisc, etc etc). Feel free to come over and say hello http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/thebombshelter/. Enter "Digital Babe" in the join form and I will approve you.

Enjoy!

My last HD-DVD purchase was about a month and a half ago. It was Letters from Iwo Jima and Batman Begins. Both were way less than their Blu-Ray version (hence why I went HD-DVD on those 2 movies). The only good thing about the HD-DVD format death is the really cheap movies still available.

Enter The Dragon. This will probably be the last HD DVD that I ever purchase.

OP here-
Welcome to the thread-another HD DVD is on its way to me-Goal Japanese Import. I have 400+ HD DVD's, and am currently rounding out my collection as well.

Please feel free to also list remaining stores where you've found HD DVD's. Some are:

Five Below
Frys.com
thehut.com
sendit.com
Traderbora @ Amazon (Third Party Seller)
Inetvideo.com
The domestic and international Amazon's
Note: For some of the international sites above, quidco.com offers cash back via Paypal.

Hi Digital Babe,

Enter The Dragon will likely be my last HD DVD purchase. I have 80 HD DVD titles in my collection including The Departed, Planet Earth, Bourne Trilogy, The Aviator, Eastern Promises, Bonnie and Clyde, Face/Off, Batman Begins and I Am Legend to name just a few. Thanks to bargain basement pricing I was also able to purchase Slither and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang which were both blind buys and have become two of my favorites.I love my collection and HD DVD, but with no new releases I've pretty much run out of HD DVDs I want to purchase and have moved on with Blu Ray. I just purchased Bullitt on Blu Ray for less then the cost of either the DVD or the HD DVD.

I'm picking them up off of hddvdboxsets for as little as 73-cents. Of course shipping is about $2 per movie, but that's not bad. So I got 300, Bulletproof, and In Good Company. The Jerk and Mr. Bean's Holiday were about $2.50 apiece. The Big Lebowski is only available in HD (not Blu), so that was an obvious choice a few months back. Worth the $4.50 price.

I took advantage of Inet Video's last free shipping event and got 13 they are:

A Christmas Story
Artic Tale
Dreamgirls
Goodfellas
Hot Rod
In Good Compay
The Ant Bully
The Assassination of Jessie James
The Brave one
The Fast and the Furious
The Fugitive
The Last Samurai
V for Vendetta

Not bad for about $53

That then got me looking around at 1080p players as I only had an A2 & A3. I happend to find an XA2 on Craigslist in like new conditon w/original box & all paperwork and picked it up for $178! I fianally got my XA2! Yes!

That then led me to order three more movies to round my colledtion out at 85 movies. They are:

Polar Express
Seabiscuit
Unforgiven

My BR collection 20. My HD DVD collection 85. I LOVE HD DVD's!

wow Alpha Wolf: decent run you have had there, i would like to get my HD DVD collection up to that much!

Right now i just have the Xbox 360, HD DVD add on. So, its not as high quality as it could be. I plan on getting a player that is full 1080P.

I am probably gonna get this refurbished Toshiba Laptop that has a built in HD DVD Player:

My last two HD-DVD purchases were The Getaway and Seabiscuit .
I have no regrets collecting HD-DVD because i am pleased with the picture quality on most of my purchases .
The fun part is collecting at prices that are so cheap .

Hi JM-welcome to the thread and thanks for chiming in! Yes,the prices on HD DVD's have been great. Inet will have another sale soon, and some titles they've not had in a while, and several Ebay and international sellers also have good deals. If you're near a Fry's, they have some $ 2 left in store (not for shipping), though selection is said to vary. I am not near one, but if you are, you may wish to check it out. Enjoy!

Hi guys, here's my thought:

I don't own a BR player, so I will be BURNING my own HD DVDs for the time being. I own an OS X program, Toast 9, for my MacBook, and it allows you to burn HD-DVD or BluRay formatted media on standard DVD-R (only about 45 minutes on a single layer DVD-R).

I download my HD recorded programs from my TiVo HD to my MacBook, import into Toast, edit out all the commercials, encode, and burn. I recorded the last 5 episodes of season 4 of Battlestar Galactica, burned each episode to a DVD-R and popped them into my HD DVD player. Looks great, and just as good as the original broadcast!

Things for all of you to think about for those who are worried about getting future content.

Hi all,
Lee, good luck with your purchase! As both Digital Babe and J. Mciver have pointed out, now is a great time to build that collection up. There are so many deals to be had! If you wish to pick up a stand alone player I come across MANY outstanding deals on my local Craigslist (Sacramento). A lot of the stand alone deals include multiple HD DVD's in the purchase as people sell off their HD DVD collections. Hey, their loss......your gain!

While I still believe HD DVD saw far too early a demise, this is truly a great time for fans of HD media.

Hi All,

OP here-
Inetvideo.com recently got some titles they have not had in a while (Dragon's Lair-now OOS again),and some others, and are having another sale. While they charge shipping, hi-def movies can still be had cheap, especially given that they have a pretty large selection. If you've adopted BD, they are also having a sale on over 50 BD's at $9.99.
