Mediabridge creates false customer accounts and pumps up their ratings with false 5 star reviews.
Mediabridge uses fake customer profiles to tag their products.
Mediabridge participates in community forums and almost never identifies themselves.
Mediabridge uses false customer accounts to give 1 star ratings to Competitors products.

These are serious allegations.

If what you say is true (and I have no idea one way or the other if it is) then I'd gather your documentation and politely submit it to Amazon with all relevant details

Thank you, I did that 2 days before posting this.

You might want to post here what you sent to Amazon

Not until I get the OK from Amazon.

It seems that you have already made a number of statements regarding Mediabridge. I'm not sure why you are not supporting what you said (if your assertions are true) with facts.

I'm a bit at a loss to understand why the factual basis for your assertions need Amazon approval

I own two Mediabridge HDMI cables that were purchased for a very low price. These two HDMI cables have worked perfectly for about two years now.

I doubt very much that Mediabridge creates false accounts to rate their own products highly or give false ratings to competitors products. Amazon has counter-measures to prevent this from happening.

One thing I can tell you is that the retail stores such as Best Buy tell their employees to promote sales in their stores rather than from online places like Amazon. Retail stores like Best Buy hate it that their high markup prices can no longer steal money from customers due to the fact that people can purchase items as such a less expensive price online at websites such as Amazon.

The term "Cheap Cable" is not a good one to use with HDMI cables. The simple fact is that HDMI cables are like speakers; they are some of the most overpiced items on the market. Let me give you an example of the incredibly high markup price of HDMI cables. I have a friend who works for Best Buy. The Best Buy store sells 6' HDMI cables for $80 to consumers. Best Buy lets their Geek Squad employees purchase products that Best Buy sells for the rate of "Cost plus five percent." My friend paid just over $5 (yes, five dollars) for the HDMI cables that Best Buy sells to consumers for $80. It is the same thing with items such as cases for Digital Cameras. Best Buy charges $29 for a case for a Digital Camera. But my friend paid only $4 for that same case. This is how much items like HDMI cables and many others are marked up in a store like Best Buy.

Bottom Line: If these cables from Media Bridge are considered "cheap" because they are selling for $10 or less, then the ones sold in Best Buy are just as "cheaply" made, since that is the "cost" of producing those cables. The only difference is the markup price that the cables are actually sold to you for.

Michael, I am happy you like your cables and yes you got excellent cables without breaking the bank.
Mediabridge cables are nice cables and a better deal than Best Buy/Target/Walmart etc. Not my argument.
Let me say it one last time! I AM NOT CRITICIZING THE QUALITY OF MEDIABRIDGE PRODUCTS! I am criticizing Mediabridge inflated marketing claims and questionable business practices here in the forums and on the seller marketplace!
But since you brought it up, I can get the same cable that Mediabridge sells, made in the same Chinese Factory for $4.99+tax at Fry's. So the $10 price point actually is NOT a benefit.
Back to my rant, Mediabridge creates false accounts. some of these accounts tag up to 30 mediabridge products and oddly nothing else.
Here is an example, Gomie Nowa ""Gomie"" a user profile from San Diego arrived one day in these forums. Wrote one 5 star review and then tagged 20+ Mediabridge products, then just dissapeared. This would not have even caught my attention had I not noticed another and then another and so on until I had over 40 "profiles" doing the same thing and tagging the same 20+ Mediabridge products and nothing else.
Many of these accounts are so obviously bogus that a 12 year old could identify them.
Mediabridge also actively participates in these forums which I wouldnt have a problem with if they would simply identify themselves when sharing information and opinions which they rarely do.

Anyone else use monoprice.com for cables and connections, tv mounts, obscure connectors, or the latest creation for high def components? They make their own parts and sometimes are the first to introduce new technologies to the world. Hdmi cables run anywhere from $1 to $4 depending i=on current sales running and length/quality of cable.

just sayin.

Ya feels me?

Speaking of Best Buy, I bought my first blu-ray player from them, back in August. I was talked into the "newer model" Pioneer BDP-120 when I was looking for the BDP-51FD (for the video modes and 7.1 analog audio outputs) Both were $300, but the 51FD had been marked down from $600. The BDP-120 is now selling for $180!

When I got it home, hooked it up, and tried to play my new Star Trek BD's, it gave me LOTS of trouble - highest among these was that the player kept down-shifting its resolution, even though I was setting it at 1080P, it kept re-setting it to 1080i, and 480i for regular DVDs. In addition, there was no on-the-fly resolution setting - like the 51D, which has a button on the remote - had to go 3 or 4 deep into menus.

I wrote a VERY critical revue, and it was accompanied by another negative review - claiming it was a re-badged Sharp. We were the ONLY reviews for the item.

When I went back a week later, my comment - and the other one - were scrubbed! I even re-entered my review, but it didn't show up when I submitted it...

Michael Zoran,
Is you friend District Manager?...that sound like a extremely good discount. Too good in fact. Did he showed you receipts?(I understand you said the person is your friend and I am sure there is a level of trust but...sometimes people like to exagerate[without really meaning to lie]). Thanks ahead for your reply if any! :)

Christopher Koch,
There is so much of what you talk about going on here on Amazon.com that this practice makes it sometimes hard to fully believe reviews. Any consumer most consider their purchases by doing the appropiate research(i.e. reading product descriptions, reviews(in different places), watching videos(if available), asking question(to different people after having a basic understanding on the product so, that the consumer knows who is being honest/knows his or her stuff and who does not). The consumer then puts it all together and then makes the best informed decision they can with what they have, but of course it takes time(not every consumer has or makes time, which is understandable, but not an excuse to proper facts finding). Once again, the consumer needs to research. There will very likely always be dishonests people, businesses, governments, reviewers, etc. in the World, but it is our choice to expose them or not when they are out doing dishonest actions, like you are right know. Take what you have and if you believe in your heart is right, then follow up with it! :)

I can't stand spammer and self-promoter, either.

But, I've bought the Mediabridge HDMI cables in several lengths and never had any problem with them. I buy them and install them for friends, who were tempted to spend way too much money for cables.

They ARE good cables.

I think he is on the something because the two most helpful reviews on the 6 ft. cable are very long and quite detailed. Both of these posters have no other reviews which is odd because most of the top reviews come from people who have alot of reviews.

This really is not surprising. Especially when it comes to .25cents worth of copper and plastic that people sell from anywhere from .1cent to upwards of $120. But then again I treat all Amazon User Reviews as completely suspect for all products. Too many trolls, product fanboys, and P.R. Flacks around.

L. Freese says:
Interesting post. I just purchased Mediabridge cables on the assumption they are good.
Looking at them they look ok and are a bit more flexible than the Monster high price brand.
I was able to speak to Robert with Mediabridge about their cables before I purchsed them and he actually took the time to talk with me and I found the conversation enlightening.
So can you post more evidence of this going on?
If so I would like to bring this to their attention.
I am an online consumer activist.

Without commenting on Mediabridge specifically - it is quite easy to "game" Amazon reviews by having employees, friends, family, etc post very positive reviews and tagging them so they appear everywhere.

On products that generate less than a hundred total reviews - I look for reviewers that have a very long history of publishing credible reviews
