It was not bush; but Obama who just promoted the head of ConAgra to head the food growth. Where have YOU been?

If you check the facts..India and the UK have banned GMO's... we are the only ones using it to the extent...97% of yogurt in the US is now "GMO" ..

Hummingbirder works for ConAgra or Monsanto...because the entire UK and India (along with other countries) have BANNED the use of GMO's and you can google and find the horrid results on humans and also how the second year of planting bankrupts the farmer. ConAgra (Monsanto) also produces the RoundUp (and it is now 6 times more than EVER used on crops). Very scary stuff

Sadly, you now have to check Whole Foods, who broke to the pressure of GMO's in their stores. There is only ONE BRAND (the 66 something) that is checked by 3 outside sources for GMO ingredients. This was a HUGE story in October and was not mentioned on media owned news. You can google it for the facts. Whole Foods bends to Monsanta (Con Agra) and GMO foods.

In actuality food using GMO's will be MORE expensive because MORE Round-up Spray is used and GMO's can only be harvested ONCE, due to the death of roots after harvesting. They are now using 6 times the spray per plant.. which is dangerous to humans... ALSO Monsanto is the creator of Round-UP... go figure!

When these are the consequences of GMO's, it's beyond comprehension why Monsanto and other such companies continue their practices. It's more than flat out greed, it's evil! What do they eat???

Not to mention the destruction of the soil. Food is made up of the elements in the soil, when there are not more nutrients left in the soil, food crops will no longer grow...nothing will. Probably not even desert plants in Nebraska or Iowa.

The Haiti governmet rrefused to use monsanto seed in response to what is going on in india, with all the farmer suicides.
Monsanto wanted to sell/subsidize them with seed and they were smart enough to refuse.
If I was a farmer? What about Haiti?

What Monsanto is doing to the food supply seeds will affect the entire world's natural environment. RoundUp kills honey bees. Kill the bees, and there will be little or no cross pollination in the wild. No wild flowers, weeds, non GMO flowering trees ... RoundUp is leeching into our water systems, affecting the ecosystems of fish, algae... RoundUp kills birds, the micro-organisms that live in soil, it reduces the amount of essential nutrients in the food chain because the food grows faster.

Monsanto is truly evil... and in its attempts to own the food supply, it is creating the Apocalypse of all and everything wild.

Truly a sad situation. We all need to go back to basic and grow our own food. Get off our butts and work a farm and take care of our own communities. I hope its not too late.

and if people did what you suggest, global warming would be significantly reduced -- by reducing the carbon footprint of emissions expelled to get food from Argentina, et ceteria, to our grocery stores.

Not to mention that Obama just elected the new Head of the FDA....Guess where he was employed previously...you guessed it; Monsanto! I know this was done in the past, but you can't change that...we can only look at the now! And we NOW have Monsanto running the FDA once again!

Not to mention if you're vegan and want to eat a strawberry. If you don't eat organic, you just might be consuming a strawberry that's DNA was modified with cod. Now I'm not vegan, but the thought of eating a frankenberry mixed with cod...turns my stomach. Eat an organic strawberry and taste just that a natural strawberry...Yummy. Oh, and because they added cod to help the strawberry from the frost...they had to add strawberry flavor to the DNA as well. After all, who would buy a fishy tasting strawberry. Not I!

That's funny that you should say that safety is the job for the FDA...When the head of the FDA used to be employed by Monsanto and has been that way time and time again.

Stephen, thanks for a very interesting look at our government's takeover by Monsanto. WE are doomed!

Yo Matt, you're 100% right, but don't worry- there _are_ people working on this issue. There are a few documentaries out there as well that will hopefully educate more people and make them aware to the situation. However, the best thing to do would be to vote for people on the LOCAL level who understand this issue and are willing to start having local seeds again for farmers. That is something this country used to have, and it was a strength of this great nation that has since been buried by this company. However, they are not the government, and, if your city officials tell them they're wrong and they have no right it becomes an entirely different matter than when a lone farmer tries to stand up to them. Also vote people in that want to push for biodiesel and industrial hemp, because that is our future. Those who deny it can go chug petroleum.

If you're in the US, vote for Ron Paul.

Pharma spent $250 million lobbying at the federal level in 2010. If all those regulations were enacted at the state level they'd have to spend 50 times that amount. Same for Monsanto, around $8 million in 2010 I think? How about $400 million?

Get lobbyists out of Washington and you'll defeat Monsanto much quicker. In the meantime spread the word whenever you can. GMO's = death.

Corporate Lobbyists were legalized in 1948,then in the early 70s Nixon and his crooks set the stage that has put them in charge .The final step was when bush appointed our supreme court leader. He is the one that gets the blame for letting corporations buy our officials!!

We need massive protests and e-mailings to affect change.Ron is an idealist,a good one but he cant compete with big business.
