Oops, your too late. About 2000 years too late.
That's ok, everything got written down in the all time best seller:
THE BIBLE

Nope. This is better. And a whole lot less biased.

Eric sounds like a slick, snaky, oily car salesman.

Keith: While you're certainly welcome to your own (rude) opinion, fortunately, people don't have to listen to you, but can judge for themselves by reading very large excerpts online: http://issuu.com/erica.smith/docs/path_1_samples?mode=window&backgroundColor=%23222222

Hey, now. You know that your original post violates Amazon's Terms of Service for posting in the forums, right? You're not allowed to promote your own book, except in the Meet Our Authors forum.

Not that you're the only one who ever violated the TOS. Good heavens, it happens all the time, and the Health forum is rife with such posts. Nevertheless, if the moderator notices, or if customers report abuse, your OP could be deleted. You could even be banned from posting.

Furthermore, this is the Health forum. Rude, rankling, ridiculous, and raunchy posts are the norm.

Keith says:
My response was rude? I think accurate is more like it.

All your statements are gimmicks, used by thousands of hucksters every day to get people to purchase their products or services. You make promises you can't keep. Furthermore, I highly doubt that you are qualified to discuss neuroscience or anthropology. Unless you went to medical school for neuroscience or you got a PhD in anthropology, I am skeptical that you can apply the principles and ideas of those fields for your stated goal.

Feel free to dislike this comment, but I'm only speaking the truth, whether you like it or not. And not only is it against terms of service to promote your own book on the forum, it is just downright sketchy.

Keith: As I said, you're welcome to your (yes, rude) opinion, but you haven't even LOOKED at my work, so how on EARTH can you presume to judge it?

That said, however, I am a professional journalist with a degree with honors from the University of North Carolina, and decades of experience as both a science writer and teacher. Furthermore, my book was indeed completely vetted line-by-line by a PhD from Creighton University. Since it's my first time visiting this forum, I was unaware of that, but you certainly seem to carry a great deal of hostility. You might want to get help for that.

Keith says:
This will be my last comment on this particular thread.

I don't think my opinion is rude. I expressed my opinion and gave legitimate reasons I hold that opinion. If you find it rude, it is because you cannot handle any criticism whatsoever.

Second, I am glad that you're a journalist and graduated with honors from UNC, and I think we need good journalists in this country. But promulgating your own book in the manner that you did is not professional and it is not the way to convince people to read it.

Finally, I don't have any hostility; in fact, my comments have been made with complete calmness as I read your comments, read many other comments, and read a variety of posts and articles that interest me. But perhaps it is your true secret to success that enables you to penetrate past the computer screen and divine into the recesses of my soul and uncover the hidden in me that I didn't even know was there...

Ah, Keith, again, as I said, this was my first visit to this forum (and thanks for making me feel so welcome, by the way!) Apparently, it needs to be said again - you really have no grounds for opining on something which you haven't even looked at. Forgive my directness, but that's just willful ignorance.

Posted on Jan 25, 2012 9:11:25 AM PST
And since when is calling somebody "snaky" and "oily" somehow not rude or a legitimate criticism - particularly when you've never even bothered to look at their work?

At least your post is entertaining.

It appears to me that what you have actually found is an avenue for greasy advertising. Good luck on that.

No need for luck when you've produced something truly remarkable and amazing. But then, you'd know that if you bothered to look at what I have to offer. :-)

W.H. says:
ES,

If it seems like people are being hostile, it is because the only place where authors are supposed to promote their own work is in a forum called "Meet Our Authors."

When people promote their own work anywhere else it does annoy people because it seems insincere.

That's why the "Meet Our Authors" forum was created. It is the one place on Amazon where people not only do not mind authors plugging their own books, they expect it and they know it is exactly where to look when they want to discover new authors and read about their books.

Why don't you check out the "Meet Our Authors" forum, get a feel for it and then promote your book there? You'll be met by a much friendlier audience.

Good luck.

Rick Henry says:
Meet the Authors forum? Good grief, where is that?
But God forbid you should send me to a poetry forum -- where the most impervious wonders await; as if anyone there had ever read a real book of poetry, before unloading their storehouse of personal street wit and wisdom from grade three to nine... full of dragons and vampires on occasion, and defunitly misspelled words and fractured grammer.

But gee, Mr. Eric, rock and roll and hot sex... are not my enticements to be much inclined to wanting to read such an author, regardless of his degrees... describing something wonderful and truly amazing, may it so be... but... rather doubt it.

The true secrets to life would be something startling, I'm sure. But not from such as the artist's list of interests. An adrenaline jolt on paper might be a remarkable first.

Sorry, just playing with you. Good luck.

WH: Thank you for a much kinder response!

This was my first foray into the forums, and admittedly I didn't wade through all the policy guidelines for the forums, so I didn't know. But yes, I've been surprised at how much people seem to want to aggress at a newcomer!

Thank you for your wish of luck, and I will have a look at the Meet our Authors forum.

Mr. Henry: I understand - I'm not sure how rock and roll relates to my book, but I do discuss the sexual response in depth and how to improve as a lover - not just physically, but in terms of building a strong, solid, authentic emotional connection with the people you love.

There are many genuine secrets to life in my book, and, as you assert, they are indeed startling. Nor are they published anywhere else. I recommend you have a cursory read!

And thanks for your wish of good luck. :-)

I told you yesterday about the Meet Our Authors forum, and you didn't thank me.

There's a link to it right down at the bottom of the screen. All you have to do is scroll down and you'll see it.

Do you have any Cherry Coke to go with that popcorn?

Sorry, I have no cherry. <hands MK a regular Coke>

HB: I did indeed go there, and thank you.
