These sites--part of the sting operation?

The rumor that those drug selling sites mentioned in Old and Diseased's [the name he used when he first started this discussion; now it's Mark Twain, who knows what in a month or two] different discussions recently on Amazon--Buy Nubain Online, I want to Buy Desoxyn Online Is It A Bad Idea, i was intrested to buy pain pills online can you help me ?, Can You Buy Drugs On Craigslist ?, is it safe to buy oxycontin online ? just currious, and drugbuyersforum.org--are part of a massive federal sting operation in cooperation with Canadian and other authorities is completely untrue. Our government does not operate that way except in the movies.

The rumor about one of those sites in particular, that in exchange for giving up names to the feds, it is being allowed to remain in business for the time being, is just that, a rumor, hogwash. You have no need to worry about your name going onto any federal watch list if you visit those sites; our government would never do such a thing, and it has other things to do. Law-abiding citizens do not need to fear the government. Only in extreme cases, certainly not online prescription sales cases, would your IP address be used to identify you. You can have complete confidence that your internet service providers would never cooperate with the government unless they were ordered to do so by a judge. There is absolutely no need to use anonymizer web browsing software when going to those sites. You can always have the utmost faith and confidence in the word of anonymous individuals who post on public forums such as these. None of them could ever possibly have any ulterior motives. No one has ever posted a lie or used these forum to deceive others, now have they?

Really? They already cooperate with the RIAA and the MPAA -- well, not all of them, there are still a few indie ISPs that still stand up for the little guy. But the big ones, Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner? If you trust them to protect your privacy and your rights, you're living in a dream world.

That was sarcasm.
"According to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, only 3 percent of the 9,600 online pharmacies it has reviewed complied with industry standards. Many were based overseas, so their sales to Americans were illegal; others did not require doctors' prescriptions. And some were very likely peddling dangerous counterfeit drugs." Six years ago I would have said the same thing, I would have sided with you. I was able to overcome my narcotic addiction. Now I see the other side. It's not so much "pain" as it is addiction to the drugs. That is my humble opinion. Getting clean feels so much better...and yes, my "pain" is gone now. And my "interstitial cystitis" (the diagnosis I used to get my narcotics) magically went away, too. How about that.

Hey buddy, be a real junkie and cop in the projects.

IMHO you can't be taking narcotics and be pain free. The narcotics cause the pain. Getting clean equals being pain free. Go to your real doctor, not a quack "pain clinic", and tell them the truth. They will help you.

I'm sure you're well-intentioned, parrot. But, could you be more ignorant than that sweeping generalization on pain and pain management?

Opiates have been used, without much problem, for thousands of years to manage pain and discomfort... particularly for more traditional 'age-related' dis-ease.

Perhaps you've heard of 'opiate receptors'? Established pathways in the nervous system that specifically enable the function of codeine and morphine. We are biologically predisposed to benefit from ingesting these chemicals.

It's a pretty common and unfortunate phenomenon when struggling and recovering addicts project their relationship with the chemicals onto EVERYONE else...

Some people really are in pain. Occasionally opiates are the best course of treatment.

MaDom Aura says:
You can't mandate morality, or convince others that pharmaceuticals or herbal medicine is effective or not. In spite of 10 year trials, and established chemical theory. Opiates are one of the oldest drugs around today. Milk of the poppy was the way people described it and it's been around and ingested, smoked in hookas in opium dens, then packed in wounds, chewed on. Basically if there's a way to get a form of opium, heroin, or pharmaceuticals into the body someone has done it.

Many pilled or injectible drugs have active plant ingredient. You can go to a pharmacy or health food store and find Valerian Root and clearly see that the root is used to make Valium. Just refined stabilized, and easily purchased. If you don't know what it looks like, seeking the root can make you ill or even kill you. So buying Valerian Root in drops or capsules you have layers of assurance that the product is safe.

Opiates were harder to control. It's a lot of work to plans poppys, let them mature and extract the "milk" often in the middle east it's made into a powder, otherwise you see black tar from Mexico. Getting a prescription for Vicodin, Duragesic, Diladid are all made by pharmaceutical companies. Using them you avoid supporting crime networks and terrorists.

Opiates do relieve pain, sure as beer gets you drunk. Why are people disputing the real function of this established products?

People who aren't willing to listen are missing out on mnay thigns, and wasting my time and compassion.

Captain says:
The crackdown on narcotic pain relievers is due to their abuse. It is a huge and growing problem. If they didn't get people high they wouldn't be abused. In their defense many become addicted secondarily to legitimate use for pain relief. But long term use invariably leads to addiction. No one is exempt from become addicted with long term use.

YES...your key word there is OCCASIONALLY. Addicts don't know the definition of "occasionally". Like I said....I beat the addiction. I was using and seeking drugs a lot more than "occasionally." I've been there. And I know there is light at the end of the tunnel. But it took intervention by those who love me. It was amazing to me that once I was OFF the pain meds....the pain permanently went away. I realize that everyone is different, but this is my experience. I know how dark and scary that black hole of opiate addiction can be....I hate to see anyone else suffering the same.

Except oxycontin isn't made from milk of the poppy at all. It's synthetic.

Posted on Aug 2, 2012 4:47:29 PM PDT
parker lewis says:
No it's not. OxyContin is made from morphine which is taken from the poppy. It is synthesized, just like heroin, but it isn't Methadone-derived.
