Hey i'm working on a project and need some help with this guy. Can you guys name 10-20 essential or his "best" songs for me to check out?

SRP says:
Hmmm, Keith isn't really a songs guy, if that makes sense. A lot of his songs sound best/make the best sense in the context of his albums.

You including Ultramagnetic?

Essential Keith CDs:

Sex Style
Dr. Octagonecologyst

I understand that. I figured he was not that type of artist. But I need songs to get a range on him. And only solo songs mostly unless he just snaps on a certain Ultra Mag song I need to hear.

Cool. You got a spotify account? I can add you there and make you a playlist.

I always found it dissapointing that there is no normal version of "Moosebumps" only the instrumental, always one of my fav Dan the Automator beats, and it was made originally for Keith I believe, atleast it's on The Instrumentalyst.

Although I hated the album, one good song from "The Legend of Tashan Dorsett" was the title track, that was dope as hell.

Kool Keith is inconsistent as hell.

"Kool Keith Housing Things" (Critical Beatdown)
"3000" (Dr. Octagonecologyst)
"Earth People"
"Real Raw"
"Blue Flowers"
"Dr. Octagon"
"Halfsharkalligatorhalfman"
"No Chorus" (First Come, First Served)
"Apartment 223"
"Body Bag"
"Mental Case"

Basically, Critical Beatdown, Dr. Octagonecologyst and First Come, First Served are the 3 albums I consider exceptional. Everything else ranges from decent to horrible. SRP is right, he's not a greatest hits kind of rapper.

SRP says:
First Come, First Served is my favorite Keith album. If you are looking for one album and something a bit more accessible I would go with First Come, First Served. Black Elvis/Lost In Space maybe too.

Thanks Ian thats what i'm looking for. I can tell he is not a greatest hits or single type artist. I am not trying to hear every album he has so I want fans of his music to drop some of their fav songs from him.

SRP its funny you said that because I was thinking earlier that Black Elvis must be his most accessible album. I remember seeing that album all the time in every cd store I visited.

Wow, I thought this mofo had more fans and more dopeness to offer than 5-8 songs.

Why don't you just grab a few of his CD's and judge for yourself? Download them, I don't care. Plenty of dopeness on hand. Besides Diesel Truckers or The Return of Dr. Octagon, both of which are pitifully wack, any one of his albums would suffice.

Playing Nogatco Rd. at the moment. That's a really solid album. "Celestial" is one of his best tracks.

Kool Keith has always been strange to me. Cus most of his music sounds like garbage, but yet some people consider his stuff "classic" and "genius." If anything, it can be comical. The only album I have of his on my ipod right now is Black Elvis Lost in Space. To me these are the better tracks off that album...

Lost in Space
Rockets on the Battlefield
Master of the Game

Others I can think of off the top of my head...

No Chorus (first come first served) Another nice album cover lol
Blue Flowers (Dr. Octagonecologyst)
F-U M.F. (Matthew)

No Keith mix should be without 'Yo, Black' from The Four Horsemen.
