I was reading an article where MOP listed their top 5 fav duo's and was curious with what we can come up with.

E. Taylor says:
Just off the top of my head:

Outkast-easy #1
UGK
Smif-N-Wessun
Capone/Noreaga
Mobb Deep

Duo's are hard to come up with off the top of my head. When I get home I can look through my collection and make a more definite list.

If you just count the 2 mc's, I'll take Binary Star ahead of Capone/Noreaga. But they also have Decompoze so I don't know.

No order

Outkast
dead prez
2nd II None
UGK
Mobb Deep

that was harder than I thought it would be. May edit later. I'm debating with myself about adding Ball & MJG over 2nd II None.

This is an easy top 5...

OutKast (Big Boi and Andre)
JMT (Paz and Allah)
The Dayton Family (Bootleg and Shoestring)
Dead Prez (M1 and Stic)
Tech N9ne & Krizz Kaliko (not really a 'group' but damn near)

Honerable Mention: BG Knocc Out & Dresta. Only had one group album but theyre a great duo.

The space is because Kast and UGK are way out in front with their chemistry. They are the epitome of the Hip Hop duo.

Terry Myers says:
JMT, The Dayton Family, and Tech & Krizz Kaliko are stretches to be listed as duos, but hey, it's your list.

DL says:
How in the world are Jus Allah/Vinnie Paz and Bootleg/Shoestring a stretch to be listed as a duo?

Posted on Nov 8, 2012 7:05:27 AM PST
Terry Myers says:
Because JMT was Stoupe, Paz and Jus Allah. The Dayton Family is Shoestring, Bootleg, and Backstabber.

Posted on Nov 8, 2012 8:02:55 AM PST
Alex says:
JMT was actually Stoupe and Vinnie, Vinnie said that in numerous interviews, Jus Allah was always considered a guest (and note he was only ever on 3 of the 7 JMT albums). Either way, Jus and Vinnie are still a duo when they are together.

Posted on Nov 8, 2012 9:34:24 AM PST
Terry Myers says:
When they make an album together without Stoupe, they are a duo. So we're talking about Violence Begets Violence. If he wants to base his choice off that one album, so be it. At least with Bootleg and Shoestring, he has more material to back up his opinion, but i still call it a stretch. Here are some great duos by definition. Is this what Kev wanted because this wasn't that difficult to come up with.

Rae/Ghost
Nas/AZ
Jay-Z/Notorious B.I.G.

Pairing folks who are part of a trio or simply have good chemistry diminishes what the real duos like Kast and EPMD created. People really need to use common sense.

Posted on Nov 8, 2012 10:06:46 AM PST
Alex says:
I think Rae/Ghost deffenitely make up a duo... Maybe not Nas/AZ or JayZ/Biggie, simply because their catalogue working together isn't really enough to judge... Rae/Ghost have mad collabs, deffenitely enough to judge off of. Violence Begets Violence is yes, a Jus Allah/Vinnie collabo project, according to Vinnie it should not be considered "JMT". But I did state that Jus Allah / Vinnie should be considered a duo. As they have worked together for 3 albums.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 8, 2012 10:12:13 AM PST
"Because JMT was Stoupe, Paz and Jus Allah. The Dayton Family is Shoestring, Bootleg, and Backstabber."

Don't 4get Ghetto E. But Dayton Fam is more of a duo than anything else. Most of thier albums have been only Shoe & Boot.
