J. Schwarz: You and I are on the same page. The nazis carefully and systematically caused the deaths of millions of Jewish Europeans. It may have been 6 million or even more or perhaps less. However, high school and college history teachers allow their students to believe a majority of the deaths happened behind barbed wire fences, which you agreed is clearly not the case.
I realize some wealthier Jewish citizens managed to escape from central Europe by airplane or boat in the 1930's. I'm curious how many of the less prosperous managed to move east or southeast to areas where the nazis had less organized police powers. Then, how many Jewish people made the desperate trek back west in early 1945 to escape the massive red army in the vain hopes of reaching the allies. How many actually made it?
