Mystic River is on sale for the rest of this month too.

Lehane is awesome! I've loved everything of his that I've read, which is just about everything.
I recently saw Mystic River again and that movie still blows me away. I remember thinking how closely it mirrored the book.

It's not really horror but it's a great read. Stephen King's 11/22/6311/22/63 is on sale for $3.99.

I bought it when it dropped to $8, and it's too late to return for a refund. Too bad I can't time-travel; screw saving Kennedy, I could warn myself to wait for the further price drop ...

Cathytg, I hear ya. That one was an exception for me and I paid full price. For me, it was worth it though. :)

You are most welcome, JoCat! :)

So did anyone get any Amazon gift cards for Christmas? If so, are you buying Kindle books?

I received one, but I'm trying to hang on to it and not spend it all willy-nilly.
I did purchase two I've been wanting for a while:
The Other by Thomas Tryon
The Throne of Bones by Brian McNaughton.

I really, really want We Have Always Lived in the Castle but I just can't bring myself to spend 12.99 on a book from 1962.

Dingfelder says:
It doesn't matter if it's from 1962 if it's good. And nothing is good if not Shirley Jackson.

But you might well be able to find it at an online library for free. And $12.99 really is a lot to spend on an e-book.

I got an Amazon card for Christmas. I used it to buy the discounted book The Lightning Thief and also a crit book by S.T. Joshi, I think called The Weird Tale. It's the one that deals with post-1940 to pre-1994 works and authors. Apparently he's especially opinionated in this one -- can't wait!

Also bought a bunch of stuff for baking, including two trays with removable bottoms so you can get stuff out easier. One for small tarts/quiches and one for small pies. I'm gonna learn to make pie!

Sure didn't take me long to run through the card. :D

Charlene ~ I just noticed We Have Always Lived in the Castle is marked down to 11.99. Still more than most, but if you really like the author, today just might be the day. Keep warm ~ MP

Dingfelder says:
I think if you're going to spend that kind of money, you might as well get the... what is it... American Library or something? edition. The huge hardback with all kinds of her stuff in it. It's twice the price but many times more the material. And anything Jackson is worth at least checking out, so it wouldn't be a waste of money.
