@Charlene: Give the song "Hero" a listen. I love the woman's voice in that one. It's the only song I've heard by Skillet, but it's really good. Even if we don't believe in the band's hero (Jesus), we can appreciate the sentiment: "I need a hero". The hero you and I are looking for doesn't have to be Jesus. That may not have been the band's intention when writing the song, but I can appreciate art for how it moves me, beyond the intentions of the artist.

Charlene, you might try this: ROBERT AICKMAN: AN INTRODUCTION ($3.99), to see if he's an author you'd like. More later.

The anthology Cutting Edge, edited by Dennis Etchison, has the first Robert Aickman story I read. I believe it's called 'The Hospice'.

Charlene,

I want to thank you for what you do on the horror forum, caring enough to explain the rules to new spammers and/or authors, and for defending this social setting where friends gather to talk. I've seen examples of this several times on different threads. You do it with grace and sincerity; I sometimes try to do that myself but I often come off as the 'Forum Fuhrer', hee hee, because people don't like my frank and sardonic way of dealing with them.
Anyway, kudos!

Or it could be that mustache... ;)

That came out of nowhere, Baron, but thank you. : )

I really like it here and now that the spamming is minimal, it has really turned into a nice place for us horror fans to hang out.
You don't really come off as the Forum Fuhrer (that phrase is fun to say!), maybe just the Forum Father, disciplining the children.

I used to be Spam Killer 2000, until I realized I was working 24/7 for no pay. :s

Yeah, Nick, I hear ya. I don't want it to turn into a full time job as it is for some, but I do want the spamming to stop. I think it's been working out pretty good here. We say don't do it, nicely and respectfully (most of us) and tell them they're still welcome to participate.

It would be a giggle if that old TZ episode got an about-face.

Hey guys -

At this point I've edited 7 or 8 horror anthologies - Best New Zombie Tales Trilogy (Volume 1, 2 & 3) - Zombie Kong - Anthology etc... and I've read through about 1,500 submissions. I honestly feel that I've read about 75% of the published horror authors that are out there. There are a bunch of great horror writers that are unknown, or under appreciated. A few of them are: JOHN EVERSON, JAMES NEWMAN, MATT HULTS, JOHN FD TAFF, STEVE VERNON, MICHAEL LAIMO, WILLIAM MEIKLE, DAVID NIALL WILSON, PAUL KANE, TONIA BROWN, NANCY KILPATRICK, BARBARA RODEN, GARY BRANDNER, SIMON WOOD, GARY McMAHAN, JOHN FRENCH, GORD ROLLO, KEALAN PATRICK BURKE, STEVEN E WEDEL, TIM WAGGONER, NATE KENYON... god, I could likely go on forever.

Hope this list helps!

Hello, Mr. Daley. I have that collection and cannot wait to get started with it.

Which one? Zombie Kong?

What a crazy concept, huh? It's probably easy to believe that I decided to move forward with that project while enjoying a few beers at the bar...

I was surprised to see that this thread had nothing to do with me.
