Does anyone have any good recommendations for chick lit books? I like Sophie Kinsella and love all of her shopaholic books. Recently read And the Winner Is by Erin Brady and loved that too. Any recommendations would be great!

I read a Shopaholic book, and found the main character an annoying empty-headed ninny. Am I the only female who is not obsessed with shoes?
Maybe the Shopoholic books are meant to be satirical?

If I Were You is kind of similar to Sophie Kinsella's books.

Is Sophie related to W. P. Kinsella who wrote the novel that "Field of Dreams" is based on?

Thanks, I'll take a read.

You could also give Susan Elizabeth Phillips a try. Most of her books, though not all, are really funny :)

Lady Be Good: A Novel
Call Me Irresistible: A Novel
Natural Born Charmer
Breathing Room

Another one of my favorite auhors is Paige Toon. Her books are not funny but VERY good:

Lucy in the Sky
Pictures of Lily
Chasing Daisy
One Perfect Summer
Johnny be Good
Baby Be Mine

Any favorites to start off with?

To start off with, here are my top 5:

Just the Sexiest Man Alive (Berkley Sensation)
Queen of Babble
Natural Born Charmer
Call Me Irresistible: A Novel
Pictures of Lily

You might also like Emily Griffin's Something Borrowed. There is a movie version of this book starring Kate Hudson.

Another good one is Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding.

Have you read Sophie Kinsella's latest book I've Got Your Number: A Novel yet? It is cute and hilariously funny.

By the way, the "I heart" series by Lindsey Kelk is very much like the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. There are 5 books in this series and I enjoyed them very much:

I Heart New York: A Novel
I Heart Hollywood
I Heart Paris
I Heart Vegas
I Heart London

Other chick lit books I liked were Sleeping with Paris (only available as kindle version) and How to Sleep with a Movie Star.

Meg Cabot's She Went All the Way and Size 12 Is Not Fat: A Heather Wells Mystery (Heather Wells Mysteries) are great reads too :) They are the perfect blend of romance, action and comedy.

Thanks! I'm going to start with Meg Cabot and then move on to Healther Wells.

If you are interested in a good romantic comedy-screwball type-check out And The Winner Is by Erin Brady. It's a fun read too.

I love Sophie Kinsella so I'm going to go with her first, then Mega Cabot. You gave me quite a few to keep me busy this summer.

Thanks so much! Very helpful.

And the Winner Is... by Erin Brady sounds good. Thanks for recommending it :)

I have read I Got Your Number and loved it. I also adore Bridget Jone's Diary-both books and am a huge fan of Emily Griffin. Can't wait til her new book comes out next month. Already pre-ordered it!

By the way, Sophie Kinsella used to write as Madeleine Wickham - I don't really know the history about the two different names, I just used to pick up the Wickham books at my library or as remainders sometimes and have now noticed they have blurbs re SK. Not sure if she's still issuing new books as MW...

I enjoyed these:

A Desirable Residence
The Gatecrasher

Thanks! I did know that and actually read one of her books. It was fun read- not as fun as her Kinsella books but good nevertheless. I haven't read The Gatecrashers yet. I plan to read.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Not sure if you have a kindle (that's how I discovered them), but here are a couple more authors you might like, Trisha Ashley and Jill Mansell. They're definitely chick lit, very light/frothy, but not silly (well, IMO. ;) I've noticed the Mansell ones go on sale frequently.

Twelve Days of Christmas - Trisha Ashley
Staying at Daisy's - Jill Mansell

I also like Joanna Trollope, although def more serious than Kinsella. And there's also Marcia Willett.
Have fun exploring!
