Does anyone else out there enjoy posting humorous and/or fictional Amazon reviews? Maybe you know another person that does? I love reading some of the stuff others have written. I've been on a silly-review writing kick lately myself. Drop by if you're bored.

P.S. - A few reviewers I have found that are pretty good in this department: NedMuffin, cousinpaco, and chatchi. Check em out if you're into this kind of stuff!

The Curmudgeon is really good.

Check out FlamingMudkip too. He's a trollish kinda way.

I post fictional/funny ones from time to time.
I also try to inject some humor into almost every one I write.

Thanks, Sir Charles! I'll definitely check your stuff out!

I would like to direct you all to Gr33n4blu3.
He is a brilliant, brilliant man.

Dumb question # 33 1/3: how do you find these reviewers? Is there a search somewhere on Amazon?

I've done a couple of funny one, but most of my reviews are serious. I love giving bad reviews to books "written" by Fox TV gasbags and the next day finding dozens of comments that range from the obscene to the threatening. What do they do? Hunt in packs. For the fun of it, I reviewed some books by liberals and progressives and got fewer comments and much tamer ones. Apparently you cannot criticize a rightie without getting pounded for your opinion. Why not just burn the controversial books and get it over with. If we cannot tolerate opposing opinions, why be hypocrites. I've also done some tongue-in-cheek reviews of righties, praising them for their efforts to do away with silly things like freedom of speech and freedom to oppose George Bush, for which I have been highly praised. Hey, I can take the threats, but when you don't get my jokes, I'm riled, baby, riled.

I've done some posts I thought were funny. Sometimes others thought so too, often there was merely confusion and, sometimes, despair. Humor, it's not for everyone! I really love nutty reviews of household products, but they're hard to find. Does anybody know of some really, truly funny ones????

I did one of the Magnum peppermill - the headline was - Assaults Pepper - very funny - got many many helpful votes and nice comments. Just go to my profile - El Lagarto - and track it down. You'll enjoy it.

Alan E. Schmidt writes hysterical reviews of Amazon products, like Universal-fit Animal Print Bench Seat Cover - Zebra Pink

Great find with Alan E. Schmidt! Funny stuff!
Thanks for dropping a line, El Lagarto. I look forward to reading your reviews too!
I'd also like to mention a user named "Hammock Rider".

I've recently posted some more reviews on my own profile, including a fond farewell to the legendary soul singer (and Scientologist) Isaac Hayes.
Drop some comments on my reviews if you'd like. I almost always respond (in-character, of course).

The funniest review I ever came across is one from years ago : The Story about Ping (Reading Railroad Books). 9,587 folk out of 9,910 can't be wrong!

Aha! I finally found you guys! I have to thank you all for making me laugh, sometimes until I cry! No matter how bad a day, I can always find something that genuinely makes me laugh out loud.

Although I mostly write "serious" reviews of products I actually own, I also have tried my hand at writing "lampoon" reviews and its a lot of fun. Lately I have been mining the treasure trove of The Icon Group/Alan Parker. First the 2009-2014 Outlook for Wood Toilet Seats in Greater China, then the English to Norwegian Crossword Puzzles, Level 3.

I agree that Alan E. Schmidt is amazing. His reviews are little narrative stories. I also like Timothy Poteet. Check out his review of the Parent Child Testing Product. Hilarious!

Its interesting, to me at least, to see the type of merchandise each writer selects to write about. Alan E. Schmidt likes common household products. Timothy Poteet likes web site "errors" such as the Parent Child Testing Product or the Kinerase Lip Balm pricing mistake.

It is a bummer to get "unhelpful" votes for a funny review. The most "unhelpfuls" I got (at least so far) were for my review of Fresh Whole Rabbit. My review was really not a review at all. I wrote an obituary for the rabbit and that really seemed to turn some people off. It was my first attempt at writing "funny" and when the negative votes started flooding in, I almost deleted it.

Amphigory Almanac: Hebetudinous Humour, Pedantic Prose, & Linguistic Levity: Meet Mr. J I know the author of this book, Brandon Jones, so I wrote a silly review. But he digs it though because it's a comedy book. Feel free to write a funny review even if you haven't read it. He'll get a kick out of it. Thanks everyone and have fun being funny on Amazon.Com!

Ping - I love that duck! Hilarious.

Some of these reviewers could definitely have successful writing careers.

In The Warlizard Chronicles there are a few funny reviews. I think my favorite is this guys...

And of course, there is my favorite... the customer images posted in the Wheelmate Laptop Steering Wheel Desk:

Maybe you're not as funny as you think you are.

There is one in the music department that is turning heads. Check out a band called Bastard Bearded Irishmen. They have one CD on Amazon and there is a review written that is hilarious. Also, I decided to check out the band ... pretty good.

This one always killed me: Uranium Ore

In fact Cracked did a great list on this... including responses for the book "How To Avoid Huge Ships".
