We want a new tv (hopefully smart tv) with best picture for person with wet age-related macular degeneration who sits about 8 ft from screen. Currently has a Sharp "SD" tv with about 26" screen. Should fit in area 34" wide x 29 1/4" high x 15" depth. Any words of wisdom welcome!

No, I'm afraid no one posted. But we took Mother (with the AMD) shopping Sun. and bought "Samsung UN32EH4003 32-inch 720p 60Hz LED HDTV (Black)" (amazon listing) after she said it seemed to stand out nicely on the tv wall at Target and then at Walmart as well. It's being set up next week, so I can't report yet on the in-home experience. Will post then. With this size tv, 1080p wouldn't make a meaningful difference. Also, the frame on it is a lot narrower than the other units, so your focus seems to be more on the screen, where it should be!

Thank you. Looking for one for my Mom with Dry Macular degneration. Should be a bright screen and we want a 39 or 40 in... Let us know how it works please.

How did the tv work out. I am looking for something for my mother. She claims the new one we bought is not bright enough..

I like the 32 to 37 inch size. LED is much brighter than LCD. This seems to work well for my husband who has macular degeneration. He sits about 3' away from the screen and the screen is at eye level.
