Purchasing an Ipod for the first time

I would like to purchase an Ipod Touch for my 20 year old son. He will use it mainly for music and games. Which Ipod should I purchase? What "extras" do I need to purchase for it? I am on a budget; is there a best place to purchase these items? I am completley tech illiterate. Thanks so much for any help/advice.

I think the 32GB model will be suitable for you needs.
Music and games don't eat up the storage too mach, but
movies do.
I always question who wants to carry movies around because
I wouldn't be able to enjoy movies in a very small screen.
The iPod touch is WIFI capable, so you can see movies via
internet, and you don't have to store them in it.

He will probably needs a display protection film and a case.
Let him choose a case, it's like choosing a tie for your husband.
If he doesn't like the case you picked, he will never use it.

I usually buy Apple products from
I haven't checked the price there, but prices are usually lower there.
And they don't charge sales tax just like Amazon.

Amazon does charge sales tax to some states. And if your son uses a PC, as opposed to a Mac, good luck with iTunes, which you must use to transfer any music or anything else to the device. The Windows version is a constant headache, to the point of almost uselessness with my iPod Touch.

I've never had issues with iTunes, and used...well both versions since their release years ago.

I'd agree a out the 32GB model probably being the right choice, though in my experience it's music that takes ip the most space. Shows/movies I transfer from my TiVo are typically just taking ip a few GB at any given time, though of course I delete them when done.
