A long ago I read a le carre novel in which a fair amount of story takes place in a distant, dismal private school to which a former spy had retreated. i cannot remember which le carre novel this is. Suggestions?

The Novel is the first of le Carre's Karla trilogy, "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy". Thursgood's is the "retirement" home for Jim Prideaux the former spy referred to.

Lara says:
@William,
this is my first le Carre book. I know the book is good, but I am having difficulty with the spy jargon. Is there a compendium of expressions somewhere?
Thanks.
