HI David,
I am glad to know someone besides me loves the colorized films of Big JOhn. I have quite a few of them that I have either bought or gotten off TV at different times.... but always with a million commercials which I faithfully cut out. But I am never quite sure if I get the entire movie even tho I can't put my finger on anything that is missing. I have dvd's of most of his movies , color and b&W versions if they come that way. I have a lot of John Wayne Memoriabilia as I have taught my kids and grandkids to love John Wayne also . Next I start on the great grands. We were very fortunate to have an American so Patriotic as he to do such wonderful fims. In HARM"S WAY is one of my favorite of his Sea going Pix but I also like BLOOD ALLEY

Hi, David , 3rd time is a charm I hope. I have tried 2X and somehow am losing it beofre I get it posted. I found Angel and Bad Man on either TBS TV or TNT a long time ago. I had to cut the commercials out when I taped it. I also have been able to transfer it to dvd with my vcr-dvd recorder as it was one I taped myself. Most of those will copy to dvd. tho some won't even if you have taped it off tv. Good to talk to you again. I broke my shoulder and have not been doing a lot of computing lately but hope to back at it again now and again. I am still looking for DARD COMMAND. wISH Ted Turner would color a few more of the old JW movies as well as Ben JOhnson ones. He is one of myfavorite JW co-stars. I also like Patrick Wayne but of course he has never been or will the the star that his father was and remains to be. He is the Ultimate Patriotic Western or War Movie star. I would love to have seen IN HARM'S WAY in color as I am sure it would be beautiful also.
I know it must be lovely in your country. My great grandparents came here from England and I have always wished I could see where they came from but at my age now that is out of the question. I will get back to you if I find Dark Command or Angel and Badman on DVD in color. I am not holding my breath tho.
Talk to you more again soon. MaryLou

HI John Wayne Fans,

I started a John Wayne dvd collection about 1-1/2 years ago. I found a thorough movie list at the back of Leonard's Maltin's book called Movie Guide (2009). His book also gives a synopsis of each movie with rating. My all time favorites are "Reap the Wild Wind", "Spoilers," "The Quiet Man," "Searchers," "Rio Bravo," and "McClintock." I probably have 80% of all his movies ... I love watching them all over and over. What a man!!!! his children are in a few of his movies.

I am with you . I watch them very often also. Have you seen IN OLD CALIFORNIA?I like to watch all the old ones as there may be a lot of shooting, but not much violence. And no bad language to speak of in any of his movies. Quite a relief from most of the newer westerns or any kind of movie. I am never really sure which one is my favorite. I guess I just like them all. I think that there are 172 films and I think I now have them all. I am still looking for the color version of DARK COMMAND on dvd tho. If you see it anywhere, let me know. Thanks. Ladybug27

Hi Folks: I am a great JW fan. I love most of his western & military movies. Can I buy JW DVD's in fullscreen. I dislike widescreen. Also is there a J W museum anywhere in this country. Any help in this would be greatly appricated. Thanks Arnold

You can get a good list from "movie lists-John Wayne filmography". And for very rare movies go to "john wayne(rare)@bygonevideo"

Do you know if they have the CZ DVD of DARK COMMAND ? I have the color video and it is much easier for "old " eyes to see than the black and white version. I would like to find a CZ DVD. Ladybug,

Do you have the CZ version of DARK COMMAND ? It is really good but harder for me to see in the b&W version. I have the CZ video but would like the DVD>

HI Marylou: Sorry I don't even have Dark Command. I only have about 65 movies from JW thus far. I carry a list of JW movies that I want to purchase in my wallet, and every once in a while I'll spot some at a garage sale etc. Eventually I will get all I want.

Hi James: Thanks for the info. I have purchased about 65 thus far. Have a few more to go.

Arnold, I have just about all of John Wayne's movies but I have been taping them off TV since 1983 so I probably have about 172. There are only a few that I don't watch much. With him , the stories were nearly always good and also quality. Even his war movies were not so graphic that you repulsed by the gore etc. Hope you find all you are looking for. Angel and the Bad man is still one of my favorites and it is really an oldie. Good luck in your search . MaryLou

Colorized??? Why destroy a classic B&W film by colorizing it? Especially Angel and the Badman. That committing sacrilege. Duke is rolling in his grave. I have all but 6 of Duke's films and would never even consider spoiling them by adding color to the originals. Shame on you!

For people who have vision problems the color version is much easier to see . In some of his colorized movies, the scenery is so beautiful and in the b&w you can't see that with vision problems. I have both versions of every one of his movies so I know I can watch which ever can be seen easiest on some days. Sorry you feel that you are ruining the movie with color but think of those folks who don't see well and understand. Thanks.

I was wondering if you could help me. I bought a few Warner Bros. John Wayne early westerns and love them! I began to watch some of the movies streamed over Netflix. However, the versions they have include this horrible symphonic updated music over the original music. I can't stand it. I'm looking to purchase other B

Most of the old movies I have of John Wayne are ones that I taped off American Classic Movies before they had commercials and Turner Classic. I think they are the original. Watch for some of them to run on TCM and record them and perhaps you will have the original music. I hate the loud music they are ruining so many good movies with. It is so loud you cannot hear what the people are saying over it. Hallmark movies are terrible with the music too loud. Movies are good , but impossible to tell what they are saying many times.
