Ooh that was tough choosing just three.

1. Diary of a Nobody
2. The Woman in White
3. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall

My votes are:
1. The People of the Mist (H. Rider Haggard is not a master of scintillating prose, but his stories are sound and I've never come across one which wasn't great fun. That is one I haven't read yet).
2. The Moonstone (after reading the notes and the top review calling it the mystery that influenced most following mystery writers. I was tempted to put this first, but it is pretty long LOL)
3. A Journey to the Centre of the Earth (one of the few Verne books that I haven't read)

1- Woman in White
2_Moonstone
3 - Frankenstein

I think I'm starting to see the handwriting on the moonstone.

Lol! After I tally the votes I'll list the top three selections. We can discuss those books in order (from #1 ~ #3, for the math challenged!)

Thanks for doing all of this Anna, I think it will be fun. Mayhem's book thread was fun as well, and I hope this is a success as well. ;)

I hope so, G.

And if anyone is worried about the trashing going on here, if there are any problems with this thread, I have a place to move it to. I will let everyone know where it is by PM on GRs or in email. And if you're not on GRs, we'll work something out.

Anna: I have a strong belief that we SHOULD stay here. This has been a reader forum longer then any of the current trolls have been here trying to shut it down. Personally, I don't think readers/customers should just move on. I say we continue posting here, and if trolls interrupt things? Then an en masse "report abuse" is in order. I will not leave this forum because of the trolls or the carp they spread around. Sheesh, that was a "soap box" moment, and it wasn't meant towards you, just a general post about my frustration with the regular wave of trolls that infect this site. Truly Anna, they have done this multiple times, but in the end, customers/readers keep coming here. :)

I pretty much agree with this. This is the place for readers to discuss kindlebooks. Why should the readers be the ones who leave?

So sayeth Mayhem, card-carrying member of the ARM.

Ooh what a great way to come back to the forums after a long time away... it's hard to choose just three, but here is my vote:

1. People of the Mist
2. Middlemarch
3. Frankenstein

I know, I had a list of ten that I had to whittle down. This will be a fun group read, regardless of the "winner". :)

G., Mayhem~

I guess I'm just tired of fighting. But if you guys are up for it, I'll stay, too.

Anna, I broke down and started a Goodreads "account," in case you decide to move this discussion to GR.

I have to say, though, that I don't "get" Goodreads. Isn't it just Facebook (which, I have to admit, I don't "get," either)?

What's good about it? What am I missing, here?

It's a lovely combination of social media and books. Where you can meet other readers who share your taste in books from around the world.

Friend me - my name is the same there as it is here.

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 30, 2012 5:00:58 PM PDT
I wouldn't move this thread to GRs. Don't worry.

I'm still working on figuring out GRs, too. :(

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 30, 2012 5:01:53 PM PDT
GR is more fun because you can use grown up words. Like, I could call you a douchecanoe, and it wouldn't get deleted.

Not that I would ever call YOU a douchecanoe.

Lol!

*Anna gets her oars prepared, just in case.*
