Just popping in to let you know I wasn't ignoring you, G. : )
I went away last weekend and am still catching up.

Now don't be asking us "who dunnit?"

Without handing over some remuneration, of course. ;)

Oooerr.... I've suddenly become overloaded with remunerative work and will not be able to join you all for the Moonstone discussion.

Have a blast.

I've listened to the first four chapters and I'm loving it!

Great choice on the book. Sorry I didn't vote but I lost the thread.

Lol! I was going to vote Moonstone (even if a bit late - first I was kidnapped by aliens for a day and forced to watch Olympic coverage, and then there was a massive accident on the highway behind my house that involved three fuel tankers) so this is great. I shall indeed have to come up with a story for the Poetry thread, although I don't know about that verse thing. Heh. My brain still boggles on it. (Now what rhymes with yarn...)

In the mean time, off to get the book! Thanks for the link. It's great to be back. :)

ETA rascally commas!

I'm sorry things have been so weird and challenging (perhaps you'll post a story in the Poetry thread?) I'm glad things are better.

It's has been a bit rough around this forum. Who knows how it will go, but at least we'll have this oasis to chat about books.

It looks like it's going to be The Moonstone. I'm listening to it through librivox.

I'm only on chapter 3 but I'm enjoying it.

It's also free on Kindle.

The Moonstone

Anna! Delighted to be back! It has been... well in a few words, a weird and challenging few months. (From what I can see after a bit of lurking for old times sake, it has been here too.) People refer to my life as chaos central these days, but at least I am never bored! So things are better and finally once again I have time for books. Yay!

Hoping all is well with you in turn... :-)

Rebel! Though, "mahvahlous" sounds much cooler. :)

ETA: The down-voting fairies appear to be upset that an actual {gasp} book discussion is planned for this site. Sad little creatures...

I've already listened to the Prologue and first two chapters. It's the librivox recording and the reader is great. Has an English accent, so I can imagine him in a comfy chair by the fire telling his story.

I open the book thread tomorrow (I'll link it here just in case) and we start with the Prologue and first 5 chapters to begin discussing on Saturday. We can adjust as need be.

I already have it on hold at my library, will download and transfer to my iPod tonight so that I'll be prepared. Also dl'd the free Kindle version to my Kindle.

Let us know when you drop the green flag....

Thanks, ketterperson. :)

I'm going to try listening to the audio. It's free on librivox. I'll have to stream it on the computer (can't transfer to MP3), but I'm looking forward to listening to it.

Haha! I was ready to come back at you and then you left me smiling. Thanks! :)

I'll throw in my thanks here too, Anna. I'm looking forward to re-reading The Moonstone. I'm sure I read it when I was a teenager (that was back before the cave doors had hinges), but I remember nothing about it so it'll be all new.

I disagree with Scamp and G about you doing a Fab or awesome job with the book club. I would characterize it as mahvahlous.
