I received an email listing a free book for kindle...when I clicked to purchase I notice a $9.00 charge. How do I cancel this order which is still pending in my account?

Dave L says:
Just call Amazon customer service. They'll remove the charge and the book. Boks are accidently purchased all the time and as long as you don't abuse it and get 'red-listed' they will refund you.

Yes had similar thing happen. Thought I was buying a kindlebook with American Express bonus points and found out they are not accepted for kindle purchases. I thought it was really dumb, but they refunded my money and sucked up the book into hyper space.

I found Amazon were really quick to respond to a mistaken purchase (damn you 1-click, you horrible and yet somehow beautiful thing!). I missed the opportunity to cancel a kindle order immediately, so I contacted customer service. Bam - it was rereversed within a couple of hours, and that was I assume overnight during the weekend, since I live in New Zealand and requested the reversal on Sunday morning. Very happy with the service provided by Amazon on these things! Convinces me that giveng them my money for proper purchases is a good thing.

When I click a free book link I always double check the price in the description details before clicking on the actual buy button since books may be free for a limited period a few hours even so things can change by time
you check your email.

I was looking for a new book to order on my Kindle last night and wanted to see whkat the book was about. instead it came out that I bought the book 2 of them in fact and I tried to cancel it on my Kindle and was unable to. I have an Amazon account that the 2 books have already been charged. I want neither of them. What do I do now?

Click on the Help link in the upper right corner. On the right side, there is a yellow button that says Contact us. Click that. You can choose e-mail or phone. I usually choose phone, and have them call me. If you say, call now, the phone will ring before you can take your hand off the mouse. Wait time, especially during regular business hours, is usually under a minute. You will speak to a real, live human being. He or she will arrange to remove the book(s) from your account and issue a refund. In the case of books bought in error, you have 7 days to do this.

I thought I was downloading "Killing Lincoln" on my kindle, but it didn't show up on my kindle. Maybe I didn't click a button that I should have. What should I do? Return it and try again? Or what? Pat Hodnett, York, SC 29745

Did you check your Manage Your Kindle page to see if it's there? If it is, send it to your Kindle.

If it's not, I'm not sure how you can return it.

Did you see a charge for it on your credit card?

If you can't find it and you see a charge, then you should contact Kindle CS.

I need to delete what I called about something about shades of gray, did not want, another one that is a novella, did not order and the one of the KJV that is not an ebook----HELP ME. I need to go to bed and I am barely literate on the one that is the cheapest Kindle

If you need help, you should click on Help at the top of the page. This is a customer discussion, not Customer Service.

I can read most books in less than 7 days. However, I don't "return" the book if I find it is entertaining to me, for that is why I purchased it. If I read a bit of it and find the book a drag, for some reason or another, I return it. I also return if I order the wrong thing.

It is easy to return! Go to your Manage Kindle page and this is how you do that: Go to amazon.com home page. See "Kindle" on the left side of the page. Run you mouse to "Kindle" you will see another list come up to the right of "Kindle" move your mouse to the bottom of this list where it says "Manage your kindle" (you will need to sign into amazon, but that will come up automataccaly) Let all your books load. See the bottom of the page where all your books are listed. find the book you want to return. You must have ordered it 7 days before. Cklick on the + on the left side of the book's title. You will see a list of options. Click on "Return this book" and follow the prompts. It's very easy. My screen is jumping (I hate this) so I'm sorry if there are loads of mistakes!!! Good Luck!!

MommaCat says:
You can download a sample and find out if you like a book or not. Return too many and Amazon won't let you do that anymore. That's just wrong. Keep taking advantage of their generous return policy? Nasty IMO.

Posted on Aug 5, 2012 4:16:54 AM PDT
Oh yes, MommaCat I read the samples alot. Sometimes if it's just 99 cents, I go ahead and purchase the book. Sometime there is not a sample. I don't like borrowing books from amazon.com prime, because I can only download it to my kindle and I read from my PC and my kindle. I don't take undue advantage of the return policy...I've only return a few.

MommaCat...hmm..."No one knows your a cat on the internet"

LJA says:
Somehow my digital orders are showing two of the same book I just bought but on manage my kindle it is only showing once. I can't figure out how not to be charged twice for this book. It's only $2.99 but still.

Posted on Aug 5, 2012 10:54:17 AM PDT
Hi, LJA...for that I would call customer service or I would use the chat. (sometimes it is difficult to understand the technician when I call). Chat is easy and fast. You should not be charged twice for any thing. ~ MP

If you go to your account from the email they send or just go to amazon.com and then to your account, then click kindle orders, it will list all your kindle orders. You can then click on the link "actions" to the far right and it will give you the option to "return for refund" I followed those links and received a refund and they took the book back. I didn't like the book at all after seeing the horrible movie trailer and was tainted by the so very wrong cast. Hope this helps'

Your grandson owes you $14.00. Rather than returning the items, take his access away until he pays you for them. There is no chance 12 downloads are a mistake.
